Firstly do you personally say Clemen-tyne or Clemen-teen.

Secondly is it silly to name a baby after fruit?

Thirdly is it ultra posh?

I love it. Not pg but have just decided to try for no 2 soon and am now excited about baby names all over again.

I would say Clemen-tyne, probably. I like both pronunciations; I usually prefer French variations but there's something about Clemen-tyne which is just so unusual - I love it!
I don't think it's a silly, just different and really sweet for a little girl. I don't think it's considered ultra posh anymore either.

Clemen-tyne - as it supposed to be pronounced

I love the name, was considering it for dd but everyone I suggested it to immediately responded with singing 'oh my darling'Hmm.

Bitofasurpise · 05/01/2012 07:04

We have Clementine, pronounced teen nn Clemmie, Clembles.

Bit of a marmite name, but I love it

DP's family is ultra posh and approve, mostly because of the Churchill connection.

RemainsOfTheDay · 06/01/2012 21:52

it's really hideous.

Clammy Clemmie
Phlegmy Clemmie
Satsuma

Why pick a name which sets itself up for teasing and so many God-awful nicknames?

RemainsOfTheDay · 06/01/2012 21:53

Oh and that terrible song... Can't imagine having 'oh my darling' sung to me every day Hmm

HolofernesesHead · 06/01/2012 21:56

It's a gorgeous name! All the best for t t c.

TwoPinkShoes · 06/01/2012 23:46

I can promise from experience, that there is no teasing whatsoever with the name Clementine. Nobody has teased. Nobody has sung that song Wink

It's a gorgeous name.

TwoPinkShoes · 06/01/2012 23:47

And it's teen! Not tyne.

tigercametotea · 06/01/2012 23:55

I love the name, only if pronounced Tyne at the end, and only if used in full. Hate the shortened versions like Clemmy...

We have had a few silences and how unusuals when we tell people DDs name so think it is a marmite one but we love it and it suits her. Definitely tyne to rhyme with wine rather than teen but am relaxed if people say the other way as don't think there is a right or wrong. She's certainly always been the only one in the class so far.
