I like the old names that are becoming popular again but I don't want the name to be common. We have an Albert in the family. Old and unusual but I'm not sure... What do you think? And if you hate it can you suggest any alternatives?

Thanks everyone, really grateful for the feedback. Sorry Theas18, I can't see your previous post, didn't mean to ignore/ offend you. Sad

Have you found out yet??

My almost 7 month old is Albert :) So clearly I love it! I've only had positive comments so far (but then no one will tell you to your face they don't like your baby's name. They will, however, tell you exactly why they don't like your unborn baby's name. I would not tell anyone until baby is here!).

I love it too,and Wilfred is lovely a bit less used than Alfred and just as nice.

Sorry I think its awful

bigkidsdidit · 29/12/2011 21:18

I have one :) nn Bertie and we love it though like usualsuspect I am aware some people don't like it at all. For that reason I agree - don't tell anyone before!

It is common in some areas now - there are two at DS's childminder.

Bertie is just the best name

bigkidsdidit · 29/12/2011 21:22

oh and I use Bertie but DH uses Bert mostly. I do find that a bit odd - when he calls out you can hear people thinking 'blimey, that baby's called Bert'! But I'm used to it now.

he can be Al if he wants when he's older and the full Albert when he is Prime Minister :) and as a poster above says it is common in Spanish, French and German so easy peasy if he's world famous Grin

Thank you all. At the scan they thought it was probably a girl but not sure due to position. I think if it does happen to be a girl I will use Albert Wink

I know a little 3 year old one and I have to confess it is a name I'm not too keen on for some reason.
