any thoughts on Steffan? I am currently 37 weeks pg with DS2. DS1 is Joseph. We tend to like classic names which I am not sure where Steffan fits into that. Other names we like but not love are Thomas and Daniel but can't have Daniel as it's my brother's name. Thanks x

I like the name but would spell with one f as usual. Otherwise your poor DS will spend their whole time with their name spelt wrong?

franke · 03/12/2011 18:10

Yes, nice name, but with one F.

scaevola · 03/12/2011 18:12

I like it, and would spell it either Stephan or Stefan.

secretcodes · 03/12/2011 18:12

wrong?? Stefan is the European version, SteFFan is the Welsh spelling. I don't see it as wrong but I may reconsider on F thanks for your input ladies!

I also prefer it with one F. Nice name and I think it works well with Joseph. :)

I know a half Swedish 'Stefan' -- nobody ever gets the spelling wrong and it's much nicer than Stephen or Steven; it seems so much more up to date.

If you're in Wales I would use the two Fs but otherwise it might be better to go with the more international Stefan. I think it's lovely with Joseph, another name that is very international and recognisable.

Thank you. No I'm not in Wales, it England so the one F may make a bit more sense. I love it but wasn't sure if it had the same kind of classic feel to it as Joseph has, it seems a lot more modern but is that a bad thing? I'm so tired of going over baby names that my ears can't tell what's nice and what's not anymore!

I like it (and would use 1 F).

lottiegb · 05/12/2011 10:08

Stefan is nice, more so than Stephen.

MamaLazarou · 05/12/2011 13:48

I like it - with one 'f'.

BelleEnd · 05/12/2011 13:52

Lovely name, know of many with 2fs (which is not "wrong", thank you very much) who have no problems.

shouldnotbehere · 05/12/2011 13:59

I know a Steffan, he's from South Wales. I also know a German Stefan.

shouldnotbehere · 05/12/2011 13:59

I like the name btw

The Steffan I know is a doctor, and in his 30s, so I wouldn't describe it as a modern name.
