In my opinion yes, either way I really don't like Harrison at all...I do like Harry though and Henry too if you don't want Harry on BC then maybe Henry nn. Harry...though they have the same number of letters!

NewsClippings · 29/11/2011 09:22

Harry is traditionally a nickname for Henry. Personally I'd use Henry with nickname Harry (like Prince Harry).

ThatllDoPig · 29/11/2011 09:23

I don't think Harrison is chavy at all.
but Harry is just better.
imo

lizzieloubee1 · 29/11/2011 09:25

Harry, I don't really like Harrison as first name.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/11/2011 09:26

Yes it is ime.

Harry is nicer.

PippiLongBottom · 29/11/2011 09:27

Harry is a different class of name IMO.

startail · 29/11/2011 10:01

Harrison is possibly slightly chavy, potty because it's different and we can't move for Harrys

startail · 29/11/2011 10:02

Pity, it's a pity ipod apps don't make you preview!

vickyj52 · 29/11/2011 10:08

Harrison is def not chavvy. I think it is a really strong name unlike Harry which is extremely popular and a bit wet to be honest.

Emy84 · 29/11/2011 10:47

Ok thanks I think I am not liking Harrison and is harry just a bit popular? Only problem DH really likes it!

Other names I like are Isaac, Sebastian LOVE Charlie but DH said no to that!

In my opinion Harrison will always be a surname.

Harry is lovely, as is Henry with or without the nickname Harry. Lately I've heard of a lot more Henry's being born than Harry's though.

pinkgirlythoughts · 29/11/2011 11:19

In the school I work at, last year we had 4 Harrisons in year 2, and only one Harry. I think Harrison is getting more popular, as people like Harry but want a 'full name' as well, and either don't like Henry, or don't realise that that's what Harry's actually short for. Personally, as someone else said, it's definitely a surname to me.

Acanthus · 29/11/2011 11:20

Harry or Henry. Harrison is a surname, like Oakley.....

comedaygoday · 29/11/2011 11:27

IME Harrison is chavvy. If you want a formal name for Harry far better to use Henry.

CharlieBoo · 29/11/2011 11:52

I think Harrison is a bit chavvy... sorry. Harry on the other hand is lovely, classic and timeless.... Will not date badly either. Good luck

survivingsummer · 29/11/2011 12:26

Go for Harry IMO - definitely!

PercyFilth · 29/11/2011 12:53

Harry is also short for Harold. This is an 'old man' name that hasn't yet been rediscovered.

Cherrypi · 29/11/2011 13:02

I like Harrison. How can you go wrong with the same name as Mr Ford? Also was the baby in Dexter.

lisaro · 29/11/2011 16:44

Harrison is a surname, and used as a first name - sorry, it's chavvy. Harry and Henry are lovely, though.

Sirzy · 29/11/2011 16:55

I like all 3. Ds is a Harry, I know only one other the same age. I think it is pretty much impossible to guess what is going to be popular in your area anyway!

shouldnotbehere · 29/11/2011 17:31

Prefer Harry

Hulababy · 29/11/2011 17:32

I much prefer Harry. I don't like Harrison at all, sorry.
