What do you think about Darcy for a girl?

I like the name Darcy (think i actually know someone who has just called their daughter this) but, its one of those names which could be either boy or girl, and for that reason I wouldnt use it.

TheLittleFriend · 24/11/2011 13:34

I love it!

FurryFox · 24/11/2011 14:11

I like the name Darcy.

I won a competiton at a farm last year to name their newborn baby llama and I chose Darcy

Blatherskite · 24/11/2011 14:26

I know of 3 baby Darceys.

It's the new Isobel/Isabelle/Isabel and is everywhere.

MelinaM · 24/11/2011 14:39

I love Darcy too! ...reminds of the prima ballerina Bussell!

Montsti · 24/11/2011 15:22

I know a baby Darcie (spelt -ie) and I quite like it. Think I prefer the Darcy spelling though...I do think of Mr Darcy though which isn't a bad thing!!

comedaygoday · 24/11/2011 16:51

Sorry I don't like it. I am not a fan of surnames as first names and I think Darcy is quite a faddy name and will.date badly.

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 24/11/2011 16:55

Tis my BF's surname ... so no, not for me! Seems to be increasingly popular, though (and funnily enough she has an Isobel!)

scarlettlips · 24/11/2011 19:11

Lovely lovely lovely

jellybeans · 24/11/2011 20:29

There were 3 at my toddler group recently, it is definately on a huge rise. I'm not that keen to be honest. Especially D'Arcey speeling which one of them I know is spelled.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 24/11/2011 20:35

I love it (see my username!) but DP veto-ed it straight out.

manicinsomniac · 25/11/2011 00:07

One of my friends has a one year old Darcey.

I'd never heard it before (other than Darcey Bussell) and wasn't keen but it's grown on me and I was surprised to find that Darcy/Darcey/Darcie are all becoming quite popular now (all top 300 for 2010)

Rhymes with arsey. There was a boy with the surname D'arcy in school, people called him arsey.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 25/11/2011 01:11

Will date badly.
