Eli as nn Elijah

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/11/2011 22:09

I like Ellis or Ellias - and I like that book! Not seen the film.

serin · 23/11/2011 23:22

Elliot Smile

proudfoot · 23/11/2011 23:52

Ooh I love Elliot! Excellent choice.

MelinaM · 24/11/2011 00:27

Elliot is lovely!

LulaBear · 24/11/2011 04:01

I shouldn't respond, as requested. But it IS a lovely a name. A lot of people are calling their sons this, but it is a beautiful name in my opinion, so go for it :O And tbh, Eli or Elliot, a boy can't grow out of it so call him Elliot to nn Eli if he likes it xx

ShengdanRoad · 24/11/2011 11:45

You can't tell people not to respond!

I don't like either.

So there.

jaggythistle · 24/11/2011 13:19

Elliot. On my list if DC2 is a boy. Not on Dh's unfortunately...

Dutchie77 · 24/11/2011 20:12

@ShendanRoad.... it's a question, not a command. And you responded, so that proofs it's a question, which you ignored Grin. Thing is that it's more useful to me what other people prefer, then to hear that you don't like em both. Nevermind Wink

Elliot is leading the votes at moment.

Elliot. Eli is a bit old manish for me!

shouldnotbehere · 25/11/2011 17:59

Elliot

MitrochondrialEve · 25/11/2011 18:22

Eli - I like it much better!

I know a lovely little Elliot. My DC loves the 3rd & Bird book 'Meet Elliot' - the Elliot in the story is a worm, so my DC ran around the park following my friend's little boy while shouting "He's not a worm!" in a rather disappointed tone. Fortunately Elliot and his mum took it well. I did have a word with DC to explain that it wasn't the best thing to be yelling!

All the names beginning with an ell sound lend themselves to the most fragrant DCs being nicknamed Smelly-

Dutchie77 · 30/11/2011 17:36

So Elliot has the most votes..... !

I'll ask DP again tonight, which name he prefers.... and I'll let you know the end result. Tahnk you all for your help Thanks

Elliot, with Eli for short. Perfect.

HoldTouchEngage · 03/12/2011 15:50

Eli (although i love it as an nn for Elijah)

snugglebear333 · 05/12/2011 18:22

elliot is better because there was a boy in my class at school when i was young and i remember him being teased as teachers always calling him ellie as in the girls name

MitroChristmasEve · 05/12/2011 18:50

snugglebear333 I hadn't even thought of that - though the Elliot being used as a girls' name these days maybe has the same effect? Honestly, I'd be a lot more worried about "Smelliot" and "Smellibot" and in pre-school apparently being named after the cBeebies 3rd and Bird worm might be pretty funny to the little boy's classmates. I stress though that my DC is not yet pre-school age and didn't mean to be insulting to my friend's little boy - see post above.

lottiegb · 05/12/2011 23:03

Eli definitely, like it as nn for Elijah. Don't like surnames as first names, which is how i see Elliot.

MrsRhettButler · 05/12/2011 23:06

Eli is soo much nicer.

nooka · 06/12/2011 05:30

ds's best buddie is called Eli short for Elijah. Cool name, great nn.

But I am a little confused. Is this for a by or a girl? The reason I ask is that you said you were inspired by a movie with a quirky girl called Eli. I know Eliot is unisex, and I guess Eli could be a nn for a variety of girls names, but I think most people would assume an Eli was a boy.

tiredmummyof4 · 06/12/2011 06:32

My dh is Elliot and shortened to Eli, I love them both. Good luckGrin
