Name dilema - is it too similar?

I really like unusual names, and we're toying with the idea of Kyrennah (pronounced Key-ren-nah) if DC5 is a girl.

We both really like it... however DS1 was Ciaran, and i'm worried that Kyrennah sounds too similar to Ciaran.

What do you think?

It is a bit samey....
do you like Morwenna or Rowenna?

yawningmonster · 10/11/2011 08:46

what about Rennah or Raina, I am sorry but I think they are too much the same.

I cried when I realised we couldn't really use Isla when we already had an Isaac so I feel your pain

Towndon · 10/11/2011 09:21

Yes, too similar, sorry!

What other names do you like?

BigKahuna · 10/11/2011 09:23

Yes, too similar and sounds like Kyrennah was an after thought - a made-up extension of Ciaran, iyswim.

How about:

Iena (Yenna)
Elena
Yara
Kaia / Kaya
Kristia
Kaiyana
Ariana
Cheyenne

mopsyflopsy · 10/11/2011 11:05

Perhaps a little too similar, yes. How about Kristina?

deemented · 10/11/2011 11:22

Yes, i thought it was too similar.

Back to the drawing board!

TBH there aren't many names i'm keen on... we did set on Daria at one point, and although lovely, i'm not sure anymore if i really like it.

Yes far too similar.

How about Wren? I have recently had a name crush on this one!

UrsulaBuffay · 10/11/2011 11:24

Dahlia if you like Daria? Ramona also v cool.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 10/11/2011 11:27

Yes - too similar. It does make it look like you are trying to make Ciaran into a girls name :(

We have very different tastes in names - so there's no point in me suggesting anything Grin Good luck!

deemented · 10/11/2011 11:36

Chipping - it may well get to the point that you'll name her for us, if it's a her as we simply do not have a clue.

DD wants to call it 'Lemony'. I'm beginning to wonder...

Melody
Hermione

deemented · 10/11/2011 11:44

Sorry Urshula - not to my taste at all.

Might help if i tell you what we already have a Ciaran, Brennan, Brogan and a Tate, as well as a DSS Shanie.

birdofthenorth · 10/11/2011 11:57

Yes, too similar, sorry. I know a nice Kerensa if that appeals?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 10/11/2011 12:01

yawningmonster obviously it's a bit late now, but why one earth couldn't you name your dd Isla? Is there a law on these things?

Dee - I don't really see the problem. They're not that similar.

Towndon · 10/11/2011 12:37

Megan

What about Hortense?

GusTheOneEyedPolarBear · 10/11/2011 12:50

If you like unusual names, have you considered dominia/ dominica. Would have had this for ds2 if s/he turns out to be a girl but dh has vetoed it. If not, how about fuchsia?
