I'm only talking middle names but me and DH are having a bit of a disagreement. One mn is sorted (a family tradition - mine- with that one) but DHs family all have 2 mn so another one is required.

We sort of agree on first names.

But we have many many differences of opinions on the other mn.

So how left of field is 'your parents should be commited'? and does it matter?

It's from mary poppins (my all time favourite film) Navckid Keyd plays Mr Dawes Sr. (it is the name rearranged to Dick van Dyke in credits)
And I was going for how it is written - Nav-c-kid

you could use Walter or Richard?

pepperpeterspotspooed · 05/11/2011 23:00

Thing is I have an 'unusual' name and quite like the idea of giving DC one as well - even as a middle name

Seve'rus (if stressed on second syllable) is a Roman Emperor- not known for anything particularly nice iirc- but then how many of them are?

gofrotoes · 06/11/2011 00:18

Okay fine - i'm going to judge these compared to each other not compared to my own umm personal tastes. and as it is a 2nd mn

Radar - sure, you could do it, a bit off the wall but hardly calling someone table and chairs
Navckid - okay so it may be made up but it looks very mysterious and exotic so a definate if you ask me
Dobby - nope sorry.
Elmo - yeah you could do that falls into same catagory as Radar if you ask me
Gelert - yep so it is a dogs name bt a quick search into google it is a nice story and (i'm guessing you aren't in wales) it will add a nice quirk to a name but yet sounds very namy being a name it would
Severus - I do love it (HP fan) and if it is good enough for Harry and Ginny then it is good enough for you - I would have one of the others above it but yeah sure you could still just get away with it
Oxymoron - sorry it may sound nice and all but it is a word used in english lessons imagine being 14 and having to underline oxymorons in shakespeare and it was your name? nope not happening the Oxy part is cool though.

onlysmallsocks · 06/11/2011 09:19

You are actually serious..... okay fine

You could get away with (as it was) with

Either boy or girl

Radar
Navckid

Then if it was a boy

Elmo
Gelert

pinkytheshrunkenhead · 06/11/2011 09:23

poor poor child, get some guinea pigs/hamsters/birds and get this naming madness out of your system on them

LadyMontdore · 07/11/2011 19:35

Cruel

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/11/2011 19:38

Oxygene?
Oxymoron contains moron which is surely not good

Idontdoflamingos · 08/11/2011 00:37

Look i wouldn't do it but if you really want to...
Navckid as it sounds a bit native american in my head so that makes it sort of okay (?) get awayable with

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 08/11/2011 02:23

Swap Elmo for Enzo, much better and not of Sesame st fame

MackerelOfFact · 08/11/2011 09:45

Those are all bonkers, sorry. Imagine it being read out during his wedding or written on his passport or (morbid, but it's something I did) gravestone.

mushroomsforgetthemselves · 08/11/2011 10:35

Fuck OP - really?
Well ummm. scrap oxymoron please

I agree with someone else and Navckid has a exotic feel so that or Elmo (because they can always say it is after the saint)

EssentialFattyAcid · 08/11/2011 17:48

Essentially this is parental vanity which your child is 100% guarenteed not to thank you for

EssentialFattyAcid · 08/11/2011 17:49

Actually why not get some stick insects and call them these names to get it out of your system?

Blatherskite · 08/11/2011 18:17

I have a friend who was mortified that he had to admit that his middle name was 'Harvey' at his wedding.

I'll tell him about your plans, it'll make him feel so much better Grin

Anyone else think of Rab C Nesbitt when they try to pronounce Navckid?

Blatherskite · 08/11/2011 18:19

Why not take a leaf out of Mr and Mrs Simpson's book and give him an initial that means nothing - like the J in Homer J Simpson?

changer22 · 08/11/2011 19:11

Blatherskite - you can tell your friend it's very trendy now. I know 4!

iklboo · 08/11/2011 19:26

How about:
Haemorrhoid
Insidious
Parsimonious
Dyspepsia
