I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Blythe. I'm surprised I haven't seen it more. Have you got a little Blythe or do you know any? I think it's quite lovely :)

I like it, it makes me think of Wordsworth's poem "To the Coockoo" which starts: "O blithe New-comer! I have heard, I hear thee and rejoice. "

Slinkenstein · 25/10/2011 13:34

I love it! Was on the shortlist if ds had been a dd. The only one I know of is the actress Blythe Danner (Gwyneth Paltrow's Mother).

hayleysd · 25/10/2011 13:34

GooseyLoosey · 25/10/2011 13:35

I know a Blythe who's 3. It's not to my taste, but if you love it, use it!

MamaLazarou · 25/10/2011 14:20

It's a lovely name, but round here it would be pronounced 'Blyve'. That may or may not bother you!

pinkgirlythoughts · 25/10/2011 15:53

It's my surname (no E though). When I was in primary school, it was often pronounced 'blyv,' blight,' or 'blind.' Love it anyway, though!

meditrina · 25/10/2011 16:02

I'd prefer Elvira, as I'm another who would think Noel Coward.

mathanxiety · 25/10/2011 16:35

Lovely. Makes me think of a charmed sort of 1920s life.

FriggOmortisFRIGG · 25/10/2011 16:49

i LOVE itSmile

ShroudOfHamsters · 25/10/2011 16:59

Love it. Go for it. Could be B (Bee) for short.

ShroudOfHamsters · 25/10/2011 17:00

...However I just said it out loud and realised that it is said exactly like blaidd, which is Welsh for wolf!!!

Fifis25StottieCakes · 25/10/2011 17:15

I like it but couldn't use it as i live next to Blyth.
I used Romilly but theres Romilly Street in London.

Moblem · 25/10/2011 17:22

My daughter's friend is called Blythe. Wasn't keen at first, because I like feminine names and I dont think it is particularly feminine. But it has grown on me and I have to say I do quite like it now. It does suit the little girl in question who I always end up calling Blythie.

GreenBlueRed · 25/10/2011 22:03

Is it considered to be a boy's or girl's name? The only Blythe I know of is the eventer (male) from NZ, Blythe Tait, but the above examples are all female.
