What do you think?

I have a DS George and now expecting a girl,

I like classic names but my only worry with Florence is that it might be a bit too faddy?

Personally, I'd go Erin. I also have a George and as pretty a name as Florence is, it is possibly a bit twee next to George as a name....

themightyskim · 06/10/2011 09:33

Erin's my chosen girls name I love it! Florence makes me think of my aunt Florrie so less of a like for me

themightyskim · 06/10/2011 09:33

I also weighed up Ruby Erin but decided Ruby was far far to popular round my neck of the woods

dustyhousewithdustypeople · 06/10/2011 09:34

Erin is lovely. We know a few little Florences.

dreamingbohemian · 06/10/2011 09:35

Florence is quite trendy indeed, even the Camerons picked it!

Erin is nice Smile

CheeseandGherkins · 06/10/2011 09:42

My nan was called Florence and DD1 has it as her middle name, she is nearly 10 though so this was a while ago :) I love it.

Meteorite · 06/10/2011 11:31

Florence is lovely :) Perhaps getting fashionable but also classic and pretty.

Not so keen on Erin. It's a bit nothing-y with its lack of consonants, and getting a bit trendy along with Isla and Orla.

WitchesBroomForMyChin · 06/10/2011 11:33

Erin is lovely Smile not really keen on Florence. How about Erin ruby?

CurwySwide · 06/10/2011 11:50

My nan's first name was Florence and her surname was George so I think it is lovely and they go together very nicely indeed :)

Erin is nice but a bit... strait-laced... if you know what I mean

Nikki82 · 06/10/2011 20:27

Love Florence!

Takver · 06/10/2011 20:48

Both are lovely.

I have never met a Florence or an Erin who wasn't nice :)

pickledsiblings · 06/10/2011 20:57

both beautiful names but v. different. why not wait and see, i bet you'll know which one she is when you meet her. i love flo as a nn.

Scathac · 06/10/2011 21:36

Love them both! Erin quite popular in Scotland. Florence not v. common these days, although nearly everybody has an auntie flo (don't they?)

MelinaM · 07/10/2011 12:02

Florence is lovely, but it is fast becoming very popular.

Erin is lovely too, unfussy and with the added bonus that it can't be shortenedSmile

blushingm · 08/10/2011 13:30

Erin is lovely - but then I might me slightly biased Wink

for some reason dd is know as Errie (sometimes Errie Berry even though our surname is not berry - not sure how that happened Hmm

m1nn1em0u5e · 09/10/2011 20:15

Love Florence! This was my chosen name for dc3, but we are having a boy!

Jojay · 09/10/2011 20:18

Erin. Florence is a bit 'now', imho

MrsMilton · 10/10/2011 09:23

I love Erin. Classy and timeless.

Dru6 · 10/10/2011 16:43

I love Florence and it was on our shortlist but we've been put off by its popularity at the moment. Erin is lovely.

Ihavewelliesbutitssunny · 10/10/2011 18:20

I was going to say that Erin is a name of its time while Florence is more classic but perhaps I'm wrong. Both nice names, I think Florence goes better with George but I think you have to like the nns for it Flo, Florrie, Floss, Flossy?

usingapseudonym · 10/10/2011 19:19

Definitely Erin :)
