Ok, me again...... we are still debating names - am due on Wednesday. Am just wondering where all the Olivia's are? Its meant to be number one name in UK but I don't know any, my friends don't know any, its not really mentioned on here when talking about popular names??? Can anyone help? We love the name but popularity is putting us off......

The only Olivia I know is nearly 12yo.
Ruby & Phoebe still popular around here, for under 3s.

I know 6 of them but far more Isabella/Isobels. And between the Emmas, Emilys and Emilias probably about 10 (4 Emilys and one Emilie in DS's class a few years ago). I also know several Sophie/Sophias, and hear the name all the time when I'm out.

I think Olivia is a really lovely name though. Maybe a lot of mothers were subconsciously thinking of Olivia Newton John (v popular back in the late 70s and early 80s when I was young and impressionable) as well as the Cosby show?

Of the names you have on your list, I love Alice -- shame it's vetoed.

There are loads here in Cheshire.

I have just counted up with DD and between us we know 15 Olivias!

I've got one upstairs!

Olivia is a lovely name. Pick that one.

I know loads. Every other person my dd (14) talks about seems to be called Olivia.

if you love the name don't worry about popularity. i chose my daughter's name (Beatrice) thinking she would be the only one etc and there are now two other Beatrice's in her class at nursery (all born within 4 days of each other) and as we and the other parents plan on staying in the area the chances are they will be going through school together as well. there are no Olivia's or Oliver's at the nursery though! the trend around here seems to be Harry for boys (9 in my daughters nursery plus 3 in my current class), and Amelia for girls.

I have an almost 4 year old one, she has just started nursery school, is the only one, and none in dd1s primary school year.

All the Olivias have obviously been shipped off to Olivia Island... I don't know a single one. It's Evie all the way here.

I'm in the North West and know loads of Olivia's. Its definitely a very popular name round here

btw my favourite out of your short-list is Alice. so lovely and classic (and not too popular atm!). would use it myself but already 2 in the family
