What is Monty short for?

i can think of Montague, but feel like I'm missing another obvious one. Montmorency? I like Monty, but not sure if it should have a longer version too, seems like a nickname rather than a 'proper' name.

Ah yes, that's the obvious one! Dh is a Withnail geek, and he likes it a lot. Mongomery is better than the two I said but think I'd still need some convincing.

Or you could try surnamey names like Belmont, Beaumont, Tremont, but probably not Delmont (Del Monte) or Norman Lamont!)

We have a friend whose given name is Carlo, but we call him Monty (Monte Carlo).

I love love love Monty, but not keen on longer versions of the name.

I know a Monty and, as far as I know, that's what he was Christened.

I would have said Montgomery too. But I went to school with a Monty but I think that was his full name, not short for anything.
