i can think of Montague, but feel like I'm missing another obvious one. Montmorency? I like Monty, but not sure if it should have a longer version too, seems like a nickname rather than a 'proper' name.

Montgomery

ripdobby · 29/09/2011 22:59

Montgomery?

Ah yes, that's the obvious one! Dh is a Withnail geek, and he likes it a lot. Mongomery is better than the two I said but think I'd still need some convincing.

Lamont

I was going to say Montgomery too.

Montogomery, Montague, Montmorency, Montel, Montayne.

Or you could try surnamey names like Belmont, Beaumont, Tremont, but probably not Delmont (Del Monte) or Norman Lamont!)

We have a friend whose given name is Carlo, but we call him Monty (Monte Carlo).

Kaekae · 04/10/2011 11:42

I love love love Monty, but not keen on longer versions of the name.

manicinsomniac · 05/10/2011 03:36

I know a Monty and, as far as I know, that's what he was Christened.

thistlemuncher · 05/10/2011 15:27

I would have said Montgomery too. But I went to school with a Monty but I think that was his full name, not short for anything.

PamBeesly · 05/10/2011 17:34

I think it can be Montague too
