Want a nice boys name that's not too unusual but not too unusual either.

Don't want him forever spelling it.

Help!

Have a look at last years' ONS statistics - it lists ALL boys names used last year - thousands of lovely ones to choose from outside the top 100.

Here are a few I like
Conrad
Quentin
Jonah
Gregor
Thaddeus

Meteorite - out of all of those I like two. One is my ds name. The other dp has vetoed.
This is so tough!

I called my son Frank after my grandpa. Everyone says they like it

Meteorite · 28/09/2011 15:27

Oh dear! Well I can try again... can you give us more to go on? What style of names do you like? Old, modern, "cool", traditional, Biblical, Celtic, retro...??

sleepevader · 28/09/2011 15:27

Is Leo becoming popular?

Celtic. Your first choice was spot on Wink

We like Samuel, Benjamin but don't love them.

I like Luke, Alex - DP hates them.

We had a phase of liking Toby but that's gone now.

Girls names easy........ Cerys, Imogen , Anwen ,etc.

But don't necessarily want a welsh name if this is a boy.

sleepevader · 28/09/2011 15:33

I quite like max actually- think dp said no though. Austin is a family name in use.

I love Samuel and Benjamin - however i'm not a fan of nn's Ben or Sam (as both have been dog names in our families!)

sleepevader · 29/09/2011 21:52

They would be shortened to Ben or Sam - I understand what you are saying about dogs names. Dylan and Toby have been dogs names in the past so can't see past that now.

I do like theo but neighbour has just had a theo.

I really like Luke and Alex too but dp won't budge!

Have a look at what's at around 75- 100 in the national statistics.

Actually, don't...I went for something in the 80's and it's now near the top 10. Angry

LynetteScavo · 29/09/2011 22:05

Hamish
Hugo
Bruce
Edward
Joel
Ralph

HoldTouchEngage · 29/09/2011 22:08

Ha ha and Luke is another dogs name for us!

I have a nephew who's Alex. How about Alistair with Ali as nn?? Thats not popular but i could see it as a name for a very cute toddler and a very handsome bloke too!

sleepevader · 30/09/2011 23:50

Well we now have three Samuel, Ben and Alfie. DP also going on about Toby,

Thank you for the suggestion of alistair- but for me Ali is a girls name.

Dunstan, Arthur, Hector.

Macsen, Owain, Carwyn, Idwal

Heath, Bryn, Torin, Struan, Jago

inmysparetime · 01/10/2011 09:51

David, Joseph, Mark, Adam.
There are loads of good biblical names, have a flick through a bible (I'd avoid Nebuchednezzar thoughGrin)

BedHog · 01/10/2011 09:58

But you didn't want overly popular, and Samuel, Ben and Alfie are all top 20, if not higher! Confused

inmysparetime · 01/10/2011 12:58

Sam and Ben are really popular names, there were 4 Sams, 3 Bens at my nursery last year (out of about 60 kids).
How about Paul or Michael?
