I'm due DC2 in December and haven't really thought about names since finding out I was pregnant. I'm a bit stuck re boys names but have narrowed it down to two girls names we like and thought I'd see what others thought.

I know the names are popular which would put done people off, but I dint know of any round here so it's bot going to be overly common.

(DS is called George and our surname is two syllables starting with a k.)

The names are

Imogen Grace
Imogen martha
Martha grace

SiL is called grace and she's fab so it'd be nice to use grace for that reason, however we're not that bothered about 'honouring' her, iykwim.

Thanks

Imogen Martha is my favourite from your list, but I would go for Martha Imogen too! Grace is lovely but almost every girl born at the mo has Grace, Rose or May/Mae as her middle name.

Martha is much, much nicer than Imogen. I find Imogen such an 'ugly', unfeminine, harsh name, sorry.

Martha is feminine and works in most languages - lovely.

If you like Rory, then why not? I didn't think "Celtic" and it's mainstream enough that its origin doesn't jump out at you.

Martha Grace

I prefer Martha to Imogen....

.... but it sounds like you prefer Imogen which is what matters!
I like the nn Mo for Imogen far more than the alternatives.

We have a Martha so I am obviously biased but Imogen was on my list too so I think they are both lovely. Definitely wait and see - my Martha was SO a Martha (lots of black hair at birth in case you were wondering!)

Imogen Grace

Aargh! Just checked back through the thread and it's a dead heat! I will def have to wait and see what the baby looks like I think. It's likely to be blonde and nor very hairy based on previous experience, so I think that sounds more Imogen like (I too think of Martha being darker skinned and hair, poss because I knew a girl like that when I was at sch but we'll see. (I guess I should consult with DH too, tho he seemed pretty ok with either last time I checked Grin).

Might have to go and start a boys names thread now, as that's what I'm really going to have trouble with.....

Martha is lovely, I do like Imogen but it's very popular.

Ifancyashandy · 13/09/2011 18:31

Noooo! Martha is a blonde name! In my head, she looks a bit like Gwnyth Paltrow (without the smugness!) and lives on the Eastern coast of America!

silver28 · 13/09/2011 18:54

Ok!

I think I've just got to wait and see now. Maybe when the time comes we'll just know - that's what happened with DS (tho I do sometimes wish we'd given him his middle name as a first name instead, but was put off by lots of negative reactions in real life, hence doing research on here this time round Smile)
