Pregnant with my first. No idea of the sex, however, when it comes to girls names I've always had the name Genevieve fixed in my head. I think it's beautiful. My other half isn't so keen, but he loves the name Eloise. I must admit I think that is also a very beautiful name, but I'm not sure how common it is at the moment?

I have an Eloise, no-one round here had heard of it before. Mind you it gets spelled wrong alot.

I love Genevieve and did think of it but in my family we name daughters after their mum's middle name. My middle name is Louise and Eloise is the french version.

DD sometiomes gets called Eloisey by us. No-one else alters it.

Ooooo. I DO like the shortening of Genevieve to Ginty. Thanks for all your opinions guys. What I really need, is twin girls. That'll solve the problem. :)

i almost called my 9mth old dd Genevieve! :) so i do love it, but it would get shorted to jen/jenny which i dont like or else evie and there are loads of them about.

so we went for Merryn instead in the end, but all through my pregnancy and after birth Genevieve was a strong contender, is a lovely name :)

I like both but love Genevieve its a great name, unusual but not too out there, classic and strong and feminine without being too frilly. I don't think that it will date particularly. I do like Eloise but it is quite similar to the Ella/Ellie etc trend. My favourite nn for Genevieve would be Gen but there is a lot of options for nns so she could choose herself.
