For a girl. Yes I admit, it's just because of Leighton Meester that the name came up. What do you think? Too masculine or too surnamey? I am expecting a roasting for this one... I think it's sassy though...

Leighton Buzzard

I would not want to be called Leighton.

Very masculine and surnamey.

Not keen at all

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/09/2011 18:32

It's quite a common boys name here. Not keen on surnames as first names.

Bert2e · 09/09/2011 18:34

Nooooooooo!

LetThereBeRock · 09/09/2011 18:34

It's horrid.

I know a 3 year old little girl called Leighton. Is a little like Madison to me, used for boys first and then girls.

Kirstle · 09/09/2011 18:36

Oh sorry, just googled it. It's a place in England. Well that's one connotation that will never come up with me being in Guernsey :) At least that's something :)

I was at school with a Leighton in early 80s - I'd think of it as boy's name too.

Cereal · 09/09/2011 18:37

Normally wouldn't go for surnames as first names but quite like this one, even though my first thoughts were "surname" and "Buzzard".

Kirstle · 09/09/2011 18:39

I guess I just like the 'Ton' sound at the end, cause I also really like Peyton, but my DMum says it's too close to 'Satan'....

I admit I'd never heard of Leighton Meester until I looked at your link, as you say people in Guernsey won't make the Buzzard connection - if you like it I'd use it. Are you pronouncing it Lay-ton (which is Buzzard way) or Lee-ton?

Kirstle · 09/09/2011 18:47

Lay-ton. Honestly never heard of that Buzzard thing :) What do you guys think of Peyton too?
