Love it was my choice if I had a boy

susiedaisy · 08/09/2011 22:07

Reminds me of a book I had as a child about a donkeyGrin Edward is a good name but I am not keen on any of the shorten versions of it, ted, eddy etc

GlaikitFizzog · 08/09/2011 22:09

Ned in Scotland is used to describe someone who might be a bit chavvy, so I wouldn't personally use it. If you are no where near scotland then it's probably fine.

I prefer Ted as a NN

LetThereBeRock · 08/09/2011 22:10

Awful. It has an ugly sound, and here,Glasgow,it means 'thug' or 'chav'. It's best reserved for carthorses.

Edward is nice though.

evamummy · 08/09/2011 22:20

Awful. It sounds like 'not' in German (nicht in a Hessian accent).

Cereal · 08/09/2011 23:48

It makes me think of horses.

I prefer Ed or Eddie, or just Edward without a nickname. Ted is OK too, but Teddy is a toy's name.

MelinaM · 08/09/2011 23:50

Nooo, Ted/Teddy is far betterSmile

...agree with the horses commentGrin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/09/2011 17:12

No. Teddy is lovely as a nn for Edward though.

I also had 'Ned The Lonely Donkey' and it used to make me cry!

Kayano · 09/09/2011 17:28

I think of Ned Stark :D although he was Eddard

susiedaisy · 09/09/2011 20:30

Ah yes that was it Ned the lonely donkey I loved that bookGrin
