3rd DC and an awkward surname!

So DH and I are getting ready for the arrival of our third DC and are thinking about names. However, our surname (Wilde) is so awkward! We really need a two or three sylable name and don't want it to start with the same initial of either of boys (their names start with A and C). Starting to see the dialema? Also, me and DH can' agree on anything so what do you think of some of our ideas?

Eloise (DH hates)
Jemima (I hate)
Georgina (both like but not massively)
Violet (I love, a maybe for DH)
Darcy (both like but not gone down well with others)

Todd (doesn't really fit with surname)
Darwin (DH suggestion)
Fergus (we aren't Scottish or Irish)
Haydn (I love it against my better judgement!)
Roman (is it too much?)

What do you think of what we like so far? Also any other suggestions would be gratefully recieved!

P.S we have had the 'suggestion' of Oscar about ten times!

If you both like Darcy, go for that. Darcy Wilde is a great name.

Roman Wilde is odd (roaming wild). I like Darwin, but it doesn't flow perfectly with Wilde.

HandsOffOurLand · 11/09/2011 18:37

Roaming Wilde? No way.
Violet Wilde - Wilde, Violet. Ditto.
Not Haydn. Not with any surname!

MissWilde · 11/09/2011 18:41

Just out of interest HandsOffOurLand what is so bad about Haydn? I know everyone has their own opinions but just wondering :)

Not to put too fine a point on it, it smacks of badly behaved boys in tracksuits who go around collecting Asbos. Sorry!

HeidiHole · 11/09/2011 18:49

Sorry agree with HOOL :(

MissWilde · 11/09/2011 18:52

Fair enough, I've never come across a Haydn myself so I suppose don't associate it with anybody. I suppose that's why it's good to hear other people's opinions on names :)

The only Hayden I know is a respectable father of two, possibly with Welsh roots. Are you sure you aren't thinking of Ayden with the ASBO.

jocie · 11/09/2011 19:03

Im presuming the oldest dc starts with a, the niddle 1 starts with c so what about your 3rd starting with an e (not that i like patterns or am a bit ocd or anything!!)
Emmaline
Ernest
Edward (Eddie)

MissWilde · 11/09/2011 19:05

Our older DC are twins so not sure if there would be a pattern. Ernest would also be out of the question (The importance of being Ernest by Oscar Wilde :)

Jocelyn Wilde
Josephine Wilde, Josie?
Jacinta Wilde

Hugo Wilde Wink
Jeremy Wilde
Laurence Wilde

It is a great surname, strong yet slightly romantic.

ByTheWay · 11/09/2011 19:23

I like Josie and Rufus.... they sound very romantic with Wilde

reallacecurtains · 11/09/2011 21:44

Violet Wilde is lovely, I think of wildflowers, not of violence at all

btw I have a Violet (5) and have only had 2 comments of the violent kind
the overwhelming majority react extremely positively, it is very sweet.

reallacecurtains · 11/09/2011 21:47

Oh, and for a boy, Hector or
Rufus, as an earlier poster mentioned, sound great imo

TheOriginalFAB · 11/09/2011 21:53

Darcy is nice and you shouldn't tell anyone the names you are considering as people always think they have the right to put you off.

NinthWave · 15/09/2011 20:07

thirtysomething, you've just listed both my son's names in that list! Shock

I would go for anything in thirtysomething's list, she has excellent taste...

NinthWave · 15/09/2011 20:08

(Meant to add, my surname is also Wilde which is what freaked me out there) :)
