Not sure if I've got the balls to use Atticus, though I love it.

Seems such a big name for a little baby!

What could it be shortened to?

I'm not condemning people who choose slightly unusual names. However, I do condemn people who choose bonkers names, or who claim that the only want you can have an unusual name is by choosing something completely off the wall ( obviously not true- I have a 10 year old Patrick, and he has never met another one in England) or, worst of all, talk about how they are not sure if they are "brave" enough to use a particular name! What's brave about naming a person not old enough to give informed consent something insane? Bravery is being a undersized, spotty, shy 11 year old having to tell his new classmates in year 7 that his name is Galahad. Or Zeus. Or Breeze.

There's a tendency to judge all names by the standards of your youth. If - like a lot of kids of my generation at a guess - you were in a class where all the girls were called Claire and Nicola and all the boys were called Matthew and Simon, then you think "Atticus! How weird!" but for their future classmates, it won't be any "weirder" than Arlo or Clementine or Kaden or Destiny.
Okay, having a name that looks as if you need to live up to it - Jupiter, maybe - might be a tough sell, but although a lot is said about how cruel kids can be, it's worth remembering that they can also be completely unfazed by things their parents might be snide about. Especially in a more multi-cultural environment.
No child gets to choose their name, anyway. You might hate your incredibly boring name just as easily.
Anyway, Atticus won't be that "brave" a choice in a couple of years time, it already seems to be growing in popularity.

"and see how many other little Atticuss's come running."

Shouldn´t that be "Attici"?

OP-It´s a lovely name.

NNs aren´t always taken from a name anyway.
