Elowyn?

What do you think? I can't find much about it on Google, don't know the meaning etc. But I like the way it sounds and the 'lo' sound could make for different nns (not just Ellie and specifically Lola, ahem).

I like it, but it immediately makes me thinks of Eowyn from Lord of the Rings. Not sure if that's a bad thing, but you might get people commenting on it.

I've just found it spelt Elowen and the meaning is Elm Tree and it's apparently a Cornish name? Yes, although I was worried it might sound a bit Lord of the Rings? I think it's soo pretty though :)

Sounds very Lord of the Rings, with a bit of Welsh thrown in.

Elowen is a cornish name, meaning elm tree. So maybe it is just a different spelling of it. I would have done more of an o sound (like el-o-wan)

TBH Ragged, I had never heard it before today either....so I'm assuming its Ello-wyn like you say, but I am happy to be corrected by anyone who has actually heard the name being used :)

Elwyn is a fairly popular 'traditional' masculine name in Wales. Never come across Elowyn as a girl's name but I like it.

My friend used Elowen for her baby's middle name. It's cornish and means elm tree. I presume Elowyn is an alternative spelling.

I thought LOTR too, so not the only one. Hardly the worst connection to make though, wasn't she really beautiful?

Yeah you're lucky to get a good response to be honest, I started one about the name Lyra and the results were mixed to say the least, bordering on rude!

I like both spellings, but I think Elowen is a bit less LOTR and therefore I like it a bit better.
