I'm not keen on Jensen - there is a bed company near us named this. I also agree about the lack of nice nicknames (Jen or Jenny..).

I know a German Jens - pronounced Yenns.

serendipity16 · 25/08/2011 16:43

I know he's not at school yet but no family members have called him anything other than Jensen. I know plenty of people who have various names & don't have a nickname.... just don't get it.
Whats wrong with people calling people by their names or if need be J for short.
It seems the op has gone off the name anyway so good luck in picking a name op.

Kayano · 25/08/2011 17:31

I haven't gone off the name just trying to gain opinions of names as I think of them. DH now refuses to discuss til 20 week scan so I shall be abusing the board for a while :D

If I go with it has name will be Jenson Park Hxxx
Park is a family middle name so....
I'm so getting cold feet about park :S

What about parker then. I like jenson parker, it has a nice ring to it.

happyjules · 25/08/2011 22:38

Jenson Parker flows really well.

DF1807 · 21/12/2011 02:33

My son is Jensen Marcus and I love it. We call him jense for short and always get a positive reaction.

oikopolis · 21/12/2011 03:07

If Jensen is a family surname, then by all means.

Recognizably naming your child after a sportsman/other famous person is a bit cruel imo. What if the famous person then later gets nicked for child porn or something (not that I'm saying a word against Mr Button, but these things do happen), and then your child is saddled with the name of a notorious person...? no thanks.

I love the name jensen. Always have.

Kayano · 21/12/2011 08:43

Ah resurrection of old thread!

I have since found out that bump is a girl. My first thought was 'Oh if it was a boy he would have def. been Jensen/ Jenson' so that's the future boys name lol

DH is a f1 nut too agreeable if he can name this baby so I have got dibs on the next one Grin lol

3boysgirlontheway · 21/12/2011 08:57

I like it, there is a little boy called Jenson on the US TV show Parenthood, they seem to always have quite "trendy" names on there, so I predict it might be on the way up.

There are also worse people to be associated with than Jenson Button, at least he is famous for actually doing something.

feedthegoatsletthemknowitsxmas · 21/12/2011 09:02

There were 3 at the playgroup I took ds to. And yes, they did make me think Button.

hohohEauRouge · 21/12/2011 09:11

I like Jensen/Jenson (am also a F1 nut if the username didn't give it away Grin ). I would have considered it if we'd had a boy but we have two girls. If the middle name is going to be park then Albert might be a good first name for F1 fans Wink

DD2 is called Adelaide which loads of my friends think is after the circuit, but it's not.

guinealady · 21/12/2011 11:07

My OH loves F1 but I don't think he'd go for Jensen.

Wasn't there a discussion about Ayrton as a name the other day? Having seen the film about Senna, I think he'd be a more inspirational/iconic person to be named after than Jensen, but would be middle name material for me...

oikopolis · 21/12/2011 15:46

@sleepywombat, that's why I said "recognisably". Emma is classic enough not to be attached to Ms Thompson. Whereas Jensen is a quite unusual first name, so it's pretty specific to Mr Button. kwim?

...same would go for naming your boy, say, Beckham. It's pretty specific. Whereas naming him David would be much less specific.

rachel234 · 21/12/2011 17:57

I don't like Jensen - it reminds me of a bed store near us. I also think the nickname Jen will be inevitable.

ShowOfHands · 21/12/2011 18:04

Ooh which girls names are you considering?

Kayano · 21/12/2011 19:13

Well show
DH has decided on Sophie Caitlin...

Which is a bit 'meh' to me but I said he could pick this one and he
Doesn't ask for much.

I'm secretly hoping she doesn't look like a Sophie Blush

He vetoed my choices of:
Poppy
Imogen
Georgia
Eden

ShowOfHands · 21/12/2011 19:20

There's nothing at all wrong with Sophie. But it's not setting the world on fire now is it? I tell you what though, she'll probably be so wonderful that she completely transcends her name. And if you're owt like me, you'll take to calling her 'Squidgy Pud' or other such ridiculous names you swore pre-pregnancy you would never resort to using.

You do know that the time to suggest your favourite name is just after birth? I'd go for Imogen, it's v pretty. I know one who's Gen for short and she's bloody beautiful. Great name.

Kayano · 21/12/2011 19:59

But but Show...
I may end up with a Gen and a Jen!

now worried

Lol Wink

serendipity16 · 22/12/2011 08:30

As i mentioned before i have a Jensen.... and i still love the name and no one has called him Jen yet.... they will get a slap if they do so Wink

3 out of 4 of your girls names are names i've had/have on my list for girls.
My first son had he been a girl would have been Georgia.
If i'm ever lucky enough to have another girl Poppy and Eden are on my list.

Personally i LOVE your list of girl names, not so keen on Sophie but its not a bad or awful name.

Kayano · 22/12/2011 15:10
