I'd drop the d and go for Lucina.

hangon · 21/08/2011 21:39

I think Ihave seen LUCINA on a car as a model of a car. Do not know what car

It's quiet nice, I'm guessing they'd get Luci/Lu/Luce for a nn
Lucina is nice as well along with Lucia.
Not a big fan of the look of the 'd' though - but that is just how it looks

lurkerspeaks · 21/08/2011 21:58

I know a couple of adult Lucinda's.

One is (and has been) LuLu since childhood. The other gets called Lucy.

My mental image is upper middle class spoilt child. I also think it is a 'weak' name ie. it doesn't conjure up strong postive female role models. As a result I personally I wouldn't use it but I'm funny like that and the image that names conjure up matters to me a lot.

I think Lucinda is lovely - beautiful, feminine and with a lovely meaning too. And not overused as so many others on here. Great choice imo.

EskimoPie · 21/08/2011 22:04

Yes! Lovely name!

Iamkenny · 21/08/2011 22:06

Sorry not a fan. It sounds a bit pretentious.

PippiLongBottom · 21/08/2011 22:13

I really like it.

CharlieBoo · 21/08/2011 22:17

Oh Lucy is FAR nicer.... Lucinda is just a waffle with maple syrup, jam, cream, sprinkles, a flake, some straw berries..... Just tooooooo much ...

theworldspins · 21/08/2011 22:19

nope sorry - don't like it, but then I don't like Lucy-like names

InstantAtom · 21/08/2011 22:20

Too frilly for me. Prefer Lucy or Lucia.

rachel1970 · 21/08/2011 22:22

Lucinda is lovely. Very feminine and not overused. Lots of nickname options (Lucy, Cindy etc). Nice meaning too.

'Pretentious' names (according to some mumsnetters, it seems) are the nicest ones imo Smile. Thankfully our tastes are all different.

redglow · 21/08/2011 22:40

Ithink its a bit horsey

exoticfruits · 21/08/2011 22:55

No-but Lucy is lovely.

redglow · 21/08/2011 22:57

Lucy is very used though

exoticfruits · 21/08/2011 23:00

Probably because Lucy is lovely and Lucinda isn't.

oohlaalaa · 22/08/2011 12:08

I like Lucinda.

sonniebonnie · 22/08/2011 12:29

Lucinda is beautiful - sounds great in English, German, Italian, Spanish, French and could be shortened to Lucy (which is ok but not as pretty as Lucinda imo).

sonniebonnie · 22/08/2011 12:30

I like the meaning too.

MamaLazarou · 22/08/2011 12:34

No idea why, but for me, this name is always pronounced 'Luthinda'.

I agree that it's a bit horsey.
