Okay..so hit me with it...what do you all think..no idea of name order at all!!

DH wants next DD to be called Bebe or Bibi....I've told him that whist I have no problem with this as a nn she needs a 'real' name..Beatrice or Beatrix, he's not keen. DD's middle name is Elizabeth after my late mother..quite like Eliza but maybe a bit close to Elizabeth!!

DD is Honor.

Girls: Beatrice, Charlotte, Claudia, Alice, Marina, Cosima, Katherine (Kit), Angelica.

Boys: Hamish, Charles, Kitt, Arthur, Alexander, George, Tristan, Thomas (DH's fav) Fraser and Campbell.

Middle names: ??
Philippa
Katherine or Catherine
Richard,
John,
Robert,
Hugh or
Edward

TIA smile

Belinda or Bethany would work with nickname Bibi.

Beatrice - like
Beatrix - don't like the "trix" ending
Charlotte - OK, classic
Claudia - not keen
Alice - OK, a bit dull
Marina - nice
Cosima - OK
Katherine - like, but dislike Kit (games kit, airfix kit)
Angelica - very pretty
India - a bit dated and I think of it as a country's name before a person's name

Hamish - like
Charles - like
Kitt - dislike (as above)
Arthur - OK
Alexander - like
George - like
Tristan - like
Thomas - OK
Fraser - dislike
Campbell - too surnamey, soup

I like all the potential middle names.

Charlotte Philippa
Marina Catherine
Bethany Philippa
Belinda Catherine

Angelica - don't think Catherine or Philippa would work as middle name. Angelica Charlotte? Angelica Beatrice?

Charles Richard
Charles Robert
Charles Edward
Alexander John
Alexander Edward
Alexander Hugh
George Robert
George Richard
Tristan John
Tristan Robert
Tristan Hugh
Tristan Edward

Beatrice Alice and Hamish George.

Would avoid Bibi. In our house a bb is short for a bottom burp ie fart!

mathanxiety · 22/08/2011 05:31

I love Cosima, Alice, Katherine and Beatrice.

From your boys' list I like all except Tristan and Campbell. (Really dislike Tristan). I also like Richard.

Would you consider Vivienne?

scarlettlips · 22/08/2011 18:53

Yeah Ephiny a vote for Cosima!

eatyouryeg Grin Grin at the bottom burp!

Won't discount Vivienne but not really keen on Viv as a nn IMO if you don't like the nn then you should pick another name as it will 99% of the time get shorten.

mathanxiety · 22/08/2011 18:55

I have known Viviennes to have the nn Bibi...

scarlettlips · 22/08/2011 19:37

Really...Math this is very very interesting! Thanks.

Also not sure Vivienne works with our surname or with Honor. Will give it more thought over a Brew

Instant Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

FYI I'm a Jock hence the Fraser and Campbell, to me, it's pretty normal to have a surname as first name.

What are people's views on Honor and Iona...is it too much.

I love the name Iona, but not sure it works with Honor. Maybe another thread needed Confused Blush

I like the sound of Honor and Iona. I think they are sufficiently unalike to be nice together. However I am Irish and do not have any sort of English accent.

electra · 22/08/2011 19:48

I like Beatrice and Charlotte for a girl and Alexander for a boy.

Ephiny · 22/08/2011 19:54

I think Iona is a bit too similar to Honor, it's a lovely name other than that though.

Do you like Isla?

Patsy99 · 24/08/2011 18:15

Lovely names, but I know 3 boys under 5 named Thomas/Tom and 3 girls called Alice. The names are popular for a reason, it may put you off?

scarlettlips · 24/08/2011 18:38

Love Isla..but it's was the family dog..DH said no!

Thanks Patsy not keen on Tom, don't dislike it but imo it's quite weak next to DD name.

I think it's likely Iona will be a middle name!

Don't you think Beatrice Alice is a bit too "ice"y? Wouldn't Beatrix Alice flow better? (Or Alice Beatrix?) Katie Alice is pretty. What do you think of Katie Alice Beatrix or Katie Alice Eliza?

minipie · 20/10/2011 15:25

Beatrice - Really like
Charlotte - Really like
Claudia - Not v keen
Alice - It's ok
Marina - It's ok. Prefer Serena
Cosima - Really like, but not sure if it goes with Honor

Katherine (Kit) - Really like
Angelica - Noooo. Far too princessy

Hamish - It's ok, but no good nn options that I can see
Charles - It's ok
Kitt - Like, but I'd use Christopher and Kit (not Kitt) as nn
Arthur - It's ok
Alexander - Great name
George - Not keen
Tristan - It's ok. Posh connotations
Thomas (DH's fav) - Like
Fraser - Really like (if you are scottish which you are)
Campbell - It's ok. Makes me think of soup

planetpotty · 20/10/2011 15:30

I have a Charlotte Alice I love it Smile

I chose Charlotte as you can make nns from it. She is lottie now but will inevitably
Become Charlie as she gets older.

Charlotte is classic, timeless, classless and I've never met a nasty Charlotte.

DaftMotherFlipper · 20/10/2011 19:32

Haven't read the thread OP (sorry) but IMO you have blinding choice in names. ALL of them are superb. (no help at all).

scarlettlips · 20/10/2011 21:30

Ohhh...{waves to everyone} old thread!

hilaire I had never thought of that, a very good point! Katie has already been used twice in our family. I think 3 times might send my grandmother to her grave!!!

minipie LOL at soup!

planet i've been thinking about it and I can't think of one nasty Charlotte either.

daftMother Why thank you! You're too kind Smile Could i push you for a favorite? Go on you know you want too {hopeful look}

Girls:
Beatrice I like, better to have this as a full name and then a nn imo. I also like Beatrix, Katherine as middle name
Charlotte is ok, don't mind nn Lotty, Phillippa as middle name
Claudia not keen
Alice classic, underused, Phillippa as middle name
Marina not keen
Cosima not keen
Katherine (Kit) ok but I prefer the nn Kit or Kitty to the actual name, Phillippa/Pippa as middle nme
Angelica is quite nice

Boys:
Hamish is a great name, John as a middle name
Charles is fine but prefer Charlie which is lovely, Edward for a middle name, though I prefer Edmund which is less common
Kitt nn for Christopher/Christian
Arthur love it, John/Edward for a middle name
Alexander love it, esp. nn Xander, Hugh/Robert as a middle name
George ok not keen
Tristan not keen
Thomas (DH's fav) classic name, like it, Richard, Edward as middle name
Fraser not keen, surname
Campbell seems more like a surname
