I agree that Rose is lovely, and Rosie is really nice.

WheelsOnTheBike · 16/08/2011 20:17

Boys
Zack Thomas Halliwell - perfectly acceptable
Alfie James Halliwell - not a big fan of Alfie, very now.
Ethan Jack Halliwell - the nicest one

Girls
Summer Lily-Rose Halliwell - Summer? in Autumn? and double barrels don't work as middle names, for me
Maisy May Halliwell - too similar and too childish
Ava Rose Halliwell - a bit now for me.

Camerondiazepam · 16/08/2011 20:25

Congratulations! My picks would be Zac and Ava.

eandemum · 16/08/2011 20:36

TMI Halliwell

They're all pretty popular names - does that bother you?

Of the boys, I'd say Zac, with Zachary or Isaac on the birth cert. Isaac is a real good one - unusual but pople have heard of it, and it gives him more of a choice when he's older! The others are so, so popular - sound fine now, but in 20 years Ethan and Alfie will be the Stephen and Jason of the next generation!

Your girls names- to me, Ava Rose is the nicest. The others are very, very cutesy and flowery and sugary - too much so. Ava Rose is pretty without being OTT. Again, they're all pretty popular, especially May and Rose, so if that bothers you, you could start a thread asking for more suggestions along the lines of the names you list here!

IF you did that, my suggestions for a boy would be: Theo James, and for a girl: Jasmine Zara :)

SaffronCake · 17/08/2011 13:27

Congratulations Nikki, you are due days before I am, but this will be my third.

Zack Thomas - I'm not a fan of Zack, Zachary but called Zack for short is a nicer name to my ears. Either Zack Thomas or Zachary Thomas work well together.
Alfie James - It's just my opinion but I think short forms of names are going to go out of fashion and longer names come back. Alfred's not very popular though, and so I think an Alfie would date a bit as he gets older. Maybe swap it round and use James first?
Ethan Jack - Ethan is nice, it's fashionable but without being too much so and it's a whole name rather than a short form, which I like. Jack's are everywhere though, there are millions of them and every time except one I can remember ever seeing a Jack he was being naughty at the time.

Summer Lily-Rose - I don't think you can put Summer before a flower name, any flower name is going to sound silly after Summer. You need a name which hasn't got another meaning in the english language after Summer, like Alice or Sophie. Hyphenated names could prove to be a PITA for the child as they go through life too. This one could do with a rethink.
Maisy May - Your cute baby girly will one day be a 40 year old woman. Can you imagine her applying for a job in a bank, a solicitors or similar? Maisie May just doesn't make it easy to be taken seriously in a grown-up career. If your heart is set on Maisie then consider adding a very serious middle name like Elizabeth or Charlotte to give her another option.
Ava Rose - The best one on your list. It's trendy right now, but it's also a good name and plenty of names which were trendy way-back are perfectly fine for the adult wearing them to live with now (like Steven or Rachel). I think Ava is the right kind of trendy and therefore will age alright (unlike say, Mikayla or Kevin).

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 17/08/2011 13:34

Ethan is nice. Not keen on the girls names - they are a bit trendy and cutesy in my honest opinion. I think they will date badly.

Quenelle · 17/08/2011 16:46

Hi and congratulations on your baby.

I like all your boy's names and I like Ava Rose but not keen on the other girl's names.

I wouldn't worry about a name being popular or not. My name wasn't regarded as especially popular when I was born. But there were 3 of us in my primary school class, 3 at the last company where I worked, and once when we befriended some other couples on holiday 2 out of the other 3 women had the same name as me.

muminthemiddle · 18/08/2011 00:18

I like Ethan Jack and Ava Rose best.
Again I wouldn't bother about popularity either. When my dd was born I almost gave her the name Isobel, which was unheard of for anyone under the age of 20, now look at it!

FairyArmadillo · 18/08/2011 00:23

Congratulations! I like Ethan Jack and Summer.

nikkilouise1989 · 19/08/2011 16:59

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLIES,

I've had a rethink.. and some of the suggestions are really nice.

I really really like the name Rosie for a girl... what middle names would go with that though???

I also love Isaac shortened to Zac... but i just think a poor child might get bullied for the name Isaac... it is lovely though... HELP

mathanxiety · 19/08/2011 19:44

I don't see Isaac as a name that would attract bullying. The two Isaacs I know are what I would call cool kids. One is shortened to Zac and one is always Isaac.

A middle name for Rosie:
Evelyn
Katherine
Elise
Olivia
Emilia

mathanxiety · 19/08/2011 19:45

Isobel would be nice too as a middle name for Rosie.

ZPRB · 20/08/2011 21:51

I have a Zack (not Zachary) and an Ava Rose. Her middle name is for family reasons (my mum's maiden name) So I think they are great names ;)

birdofthenorth · 20/08/2011 22:29

Ethan Jack is lovely.

I like Zack but prefer Zachary.

Alfie is ok but soooo popular.

I like Summer but not with the hyphenated middle name.

Maisy is great but not with May!! Maisy Rose is ok.

Ava Rose is lovely but Ava is really popular too (I know 3 born this year, one of whom
was Ava Rose).

Congrats on your pregnancy x

birdofthenorth · 20/08/2011 22:33

Sorry just seen your last post OP.

Isaac nn Zac is really lovely ...no teasing unless your surname is Cox or Dick!

Rosie is gorgeous.

How about

Rosie Kate
Rosie Eve
Rosie Elizabeth
Rosie Charlotte

Or as you liked Maisy May... Rosie Rae?

cece · 20/08/2011 22:34

Like Jack, not so keen on the girls names but if I had to choose I would have to go for Ava.

cece · 20/08/2011 22:35

Rosie so much better. I would go for Rosie Jane
