Sevilen for a boy?

It is Turkish for beloved. Looking for something unusual but not pretentious. As we live in England, the meaning won't be clear to people except me (who cares about the meaning!) It's pronounced as it's written. We have a Turkish connection.
What do people think?. Have to register Friday morning!

Lovely

Sounds a bit like "servile". And has "vile" in it.

ZZZenAgain · 11/08/2011 09:25

I know the name Severin which obviously means severe or perhaps stern. So if I heard Sevilin, I might think I the name was Severin but I would get used to it. Severin is also not a hugely common name in the UK, so I wouldn't expect widespread confusion with it.

How do you pronounce Sevilin -the vowels and the stress?

I quite like it but it puts the word "saveloy" in my head! Sorry.

NattersAndMutters · 11/08/2011 11:13

It's got "evil" in it as well Hmm

Lovely name with a lovely meaning. Given your Turkish background it is much nicer to give your son a Turkish name than to name him Jack or Charlie, for example. Great choice imo.

I do love a rare name, but I'm not convinced Sevilen makes a nice sound. I am pronouncing it Seh-vill-en, am I getting it wrong?

Saveloy here too.
