Hi, me and my partner both have names we're pretty sure of problem is neither of us agree on the others choices!!! So any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!! We already have a daughter, Lola and are expecting another girl.....

Lacey
Lexi
Ruby
Ava
Kacey

Not thought too much about spellings yet and definitely no middle name.
Thanks :)

Ava and Lola sound too similar to me. Ruby or Lexie.

GetOutMyPub · 26/07/2011 22:20

DS friend is called Lola & her sister is Freya.

and CECE, my niece is called Tierney. SIL really wanted a boy and had chosen the name Tiernan from quite early on. Then DN appeared Grin Hated it at first but actually quite like it now. (still not what I would choose)

With both pregnancies, we had to stop discussing girls names or we would have ended up in the divorce courts Grin Luckily we had two bonny boys!

What about -
Jaycey
Kayla (too similar?)
Kayleigh
Eva
Orlena
Isla

I really like the sound of Molly & Lola or Isla & Lola together. (suppose same number of syllables/similar sounding)

DelicateQ · 26/07/2011 22:22

I like Ruby best on your list.

How about

Alisha
Allie
Bella
Ellie
Gaby
Isis
Jasmine
Kenzie
Lori
Nicole
Poppy
Sasha
Tiffanie

lchodge · 26/07/2011 22:29

Getoutmypub I like Kayla/Layla but does sound very similar.

Don't really like any of them Delicate. My partner likes Sasha but I think its very chavvy sounding!

I like Ruby and Ava and only know one of each.

How about:

Darcey
Phoebe
Macey
Emmey
Sadie

SpottyFrock · 26/07/2011 22:38

Not keen on the term, chavvy but I have to say, Lacey and Kacey sound far more chavvy than Sasha. Though, to me, Sasha is a boy's name primarily.

DH just said that he thinks Evie goes with Lola. I still think Sadie goes well. What about Poppy? Or Romilly? (though maybe Romilly is too traditional/old fashioned for your taste)

Or what about Tess? That sounds nice with Lola.

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 22:41

We have a Lexie nn for Alexandra but I'm also not keen on the two L names
what about

Sylvie? Lola and Sylvie is pretty
Violet
Celeste
Mirren (muiranne)
Arianne
Cassia
Saskia
Scarlett
Mya
Jess

DelicateQ · 26/07/2011 22:41

Evie does go very well with Lola

Keeley
Macey
Mackenzie

DelicateQ · 26/07/2011 22:43

Orla (too similar to Lola?)

DelicateQ · 26/07/2011 22:44

What are your favourites? ...and what are your partners favourites?

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 22:45

Oh and we know 3 Lexie's not one Ruby or Ava and we're in Scotland too Smile

What about

Amber
Erin
Skye
Skylar
Amelie
Jemma
Roxy
Nell

LetThereBeRock · 26/07/2011 22:49

By least offensive I mean that I don't really like any of them, but Ava is the nicest of them, then Ruby.

I have to agree that the other three sound far more 'chavvy' than Sasha. Sasha is lovely, though nicest on a boy imho, but works for both genders.

SpottyFrock · 26/07/2011 22:50

I love Nell but DH hated Gwendolyne and I couldn't think what else it could be short for other than Ellen which we couldn't use for family reasons.

fishandlilacs · 26/07/2011 22:51

Lacey, kacey and Lexi-council estate common round here. Sorry if that sounds snobby but I work with young teenage mums from vulnerable backgrounds and so many of them have called thier children, Lacey, Lexi or Kacey

Ruby-lovely
Ava-lovely

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 22:52

Penny
Bea either on it's own or as a nn for Beatrice
Imogen

lchodge · 26/07/2011 22:53

Poppy and Tess sound like pet names to me. Also not keen on Evie or Sylvie sound a bit 'cutesy' for me if that makes sense?

Really like Keeley was on the shortlist the first time round but the page 3 girl put my partner off lol!!

Neither of us really have strong favourites but from the list I posted I like Lacey andLexi and my partner likes Ruby, Ava and Kacey.

Think Ruby and Ava must be more popular down south.

I can assure you I am neither a young mum OR come from a council estate fishandlilacs but thanks for the stereo type there Hmm

seeker · 26/07/2011 22:54

And do remember she will be a grown up for much, much longer than she.ll be a baby or a litle girl, so choose her name with that in mind.

proudfoot · 26/07/2011 22:55

Ava would definitely be my choice.

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 22:56

Cora
Cara
Clara
Seren

HollyDee · 26/07/2011 23:00

Ruby and Ava are by far the nicest.

SpottyFrock · 26/07/2011 23:01

Ava was very popular where we used to live (cheshire) and is also very popular where we are now (sussex).

Names are so subjective and you really should go with what you like, within reason.

However, if you're interested, when I was supply teaching a couple of years ago, girls were always called names like Lacey, Kacey and Jaycey in the more deprived areas. In the posher areas, girls were often called Ava and Imogen. That's an observation, not a judgement because really you need to make up your own mind as peoples taste in names varies hugely.

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 23:02

Dayna
Polly
Nico
Zoe

BibiBelle · 26/07/2011 23:05

Phoebe
Hebe
Juno

Lonnie · 26/07/2011 23:20

I am voting against Ruby and Ava they are SO popular.. please dont do it.

I like Lexie and I do not think its a problem you have another L name. Lacey is the name of this adorable 3 year old I know so I also get a warm fluffy feeling over that one.. not so keen on Kacey personally..
