Having seen a few names pop up which, when read out to my office colleagues, have caused great hilarity, I was wondering which names poeple on MN generally consider too posh/try hard/odd to be passed off in RL. I absolutely love Arabella but have been told that DH and I aren't posh enough to use it :( Ditto Lucinda.

I have to admit I did laugh at Mungo. Sorry to any Mungos/parents of Mungos out there!

What if you actually are hippy middle class?

For me I think it's more of the context. I really dislike Hugo and Rufus because of awful children I encountered over the summer, however the names themselves are quite nice.

Wannabe hippy but middle class

Not British so idk the subtleties of posh, but these names seem to be popular among the upper class white yuppies who vacation in the hamptons or Martha's Vineyard and all that shit Grin and the bougie folks trying hard to be them:

Asher
Atticus
Aubrey
Brock
Braylen
Emmett
Hugo
Ottis
Garrett
Keaton
Piers
Nigel
Sloan
Milo

For girls, last names like "McKenna" or "Preston"
Maeve
Harper
Piper
audrina
Charlotte
Esme
Iris
Florence

"Odd and try-hard" is totally different, too many to even name. I grew up with a "Chaya" and "cougar" but they certainly weren't wealthy or classy.
