I was always keen on an Irish name until I realised I may spend the rest of my life being corrected by my in-laws on the pronunciation... Of my own child's name.

Decided now it can keep his McSurname and have a first name from this side of the Irish Sea.

I'm pregnant with DC2 but only 5 weeks gone. If we have a girl we're going to call it Roisin. Neither of us are Irish but I love the name.

I'm Irish and my DS has one of the more pronouncable c names already listed a few times. That us typical of Irish names- the C's tend to be simpler.

If you want easy to spell and pronounce and not c;
Sean, Liam, Donal, Lorcan, Finn, Rory (ruairi), Brendan
Orla, Aisling /ashling, kiera, Aileen,

The easier to spell ones can tend to be less trendy though.
I'm actually having a cs tomorrow for ds2 and am keeping well away from any Irish names, easy to spell or not, because my fil is an arsehole who speaks in Irish a lot and whose first words to me after having his first grandchild were to question his nonirish second name. James? Why not Seamus? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Aisling is beautiful...means a dream or vision and is in a lot of Irish poetry.

Also love Aoife and Eimear.
