Nice. Especially if you are a bit posh.

PaperBank · 17/07/2011 10:03

It's a bit posh for me. Prefer Hugh.

MardyBra · 17/07/2011 10:09

I think Hugh is equally as posh.

PaperBank · 17/07/2011 10:55

Yes it is, I just prefer it to Hugo.

MelinaM · 17/07/2011 11:21

I love it!

I love the name Hugo. I think it has lots of character and a name that will serve him well from being a baby into adulthood. It's not overused either - I think this is a lovely choice! Have you any idea of a middle name?

BibiBelle · 17/07/2011 14:32

I love love LOVE it!

threecurrantbuns · 17/07/2011 16:09

I LOVE it but that might have something to do with having the most adorable Hugo myself :)

nameynamechange · 17/07/2011 17:01

very nice :)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 17/07/2011 17:17

I do think it is 'posh'. In fact, I know someone who isn't 'posh' and has called her DS Hugo and I think, in her case, it is certainly aspirational. When I heard what she had named him, I did actually roll my eyes.

However, I don't really have anything against the name, it's a fine name.

LittleOne76 · 17/07/2011 18:25

thanks so much everyone. hadn't though of the name as being posh before (we're from the states and don't really get the posh thing in the same way..)

Tillylove - still tossing up middle names...!

threecurrantbuns - do you have nicknames you use for your little Hugo? Was think "hugh" is the obvious abbreviation but wondered what else you may have come up with.

We don't use any nn for him I was quite sure I wanted him to be Hugo and not Hugh. So far no one calls him Hugh. Although dd1 does call him Hughgy (sp)

I've been told a nn often given when they are small is huggIe. My phone you let me do a lower case I for some reason

PipFEH · 18/07/2011 12:08

I like it, but it is definately a rah name. It was on our shortlist, but I decided against it for this reason.

Purplebuns · 18/07/2011 13:06

I really like this is my top 3 fave for boys. The only thing that put me off is some people who can't speak properly say is as yoogo

pooka · 18/07/2011 13:11

Love it. know 1 five year old an 1 3 year old Hugo.

Not raah.

One has Spanish parents. One plain south London background.

Noleen · 18/07/2011 18:20

I love it and never thought of it as Posh but more cool, but then again I'm from South Africa so I don't get the whole posh or not thing.

going · 18/07/2011 18:22

I love it!

onanightlikethis · 18/07/2011 18:30

love it! we have a hugo...

ramade · 18/07/2011 18:39

It's a name that will make a lot of people think "posh"

PamBeesly · 18/07/2011 18:42

its lovely

missmiss · 18/07/2011 18:52

I love it. I've heard Hugs as a nickname, which is quite sweet for a small boy.

LittleOne76 · 18/07/2011 19:25

All the feedback's really helpful. Thanks so much. We're def not posh so maybe it won't have that same association given context. I have this image of a little boy running around the flat now called hugo.. aww. Have a few weeks to go before he's due (I'm 28 weeks) so will need to be patient.

Absolutely love Hugo was one of my choices for a boy, but ended up with two DDs. Also love Huey as a nn.
