I like it :)

Hedwig3 · 15/07/2011 11:36

A favourite of my hubby's that I quite liked but I could never quite get past hearing 'militant' so we couldn't use it.

ShoutyHamster · 15/07/2011 13:06

Really don't like alas, though many folk do! To me it sounds prissy, and the actual shape and sound of the word isn't that nice! If I wanted a Millie she would be Romilly - much nicer.

And I keep seeing Millie as meaning 'thousand hundred' Grin

bigbluebump · 15/07/2011 13:09

Millicent just makes me think Thousand Hundred.... very odd meaning imo.

MsChanandlerBong · 15/07/2011 13:33

I really like it - I am surprised it is not more popular!
I see it in the same bracket as Matilda, which has become increasingly popular over the last few years. Both lovely classic names, but with supercute, contemporary nn's.

DD1 is Millicent, Millie Grin

Colliecollie · 15/07/2011 16:49

As long as your surname isn't Bystander (have you seen Flushed Away?!)

TheRealMBJ · 15/07/2011 16:53

I'm really not sure about it myself. I don't like names ending in a 'ee' sound and not that fond of Millicent itself. But it is one of DH's favourites AND I found myself subconsciously referring to the baby as Millie Confused

Milli = thousand
Cent = Hundred

Also, there are so, so many little Millies and Tillies about - I'd choose something less popular personally.

tummytickler · 15/07/2011 17:19

I really like Millicent, but not keen on Millie, and for this reason, it would be a no.
