Hey,

After much discussion, we think we've decided on Henry Xavier Holmes for a boy.

We're really struggling for a girls name as DH doesn't really like any.

Please give your honest opinions on our shortlist. Possible teasings/problems and your general thoughts:

Melody Charlotte Holmes
Delia Madeleine Holmes
Sylvia Madeleine Holmes

Thanks

exoticfruits · 12/07/2011 19:11

Charlotte Sylvia as don't like the rest.

Rhubarbgarden · 12/07/2011 20:39

Delia is lovely. How about Celia?

I really hate Melody - so twee.

Mumbrane · 12/07/2011 21:14

Sylvia / Sylvie - lovely.

Melody is a bit wet. Delia isn't great and just makes me think of the cook.

kalo12 · 12/07/2011 21:16

Sylvie Elisabeth - Frenchify it a bit.

muminthemiddle · 13/07/2011 22:58

Sylvia definately. Reminds me of an elderly relative of mine.

ahshutupayourface · 14/07/2011 19:39

Silvie is very pretty and goes well with your second names.

scarlettsmummy2 · 14/07/2011 19:41

I love Melody Charlotte, although it did make me think of Melody from the Apprentice- not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

ScarletOHaHa · 14/07/2011 19:50

Melody Charlotte Holmes (love Doctor Who).

We decided that my DH would pick the boys name and I would choose the girls.

I didn't like the boys name and was convinced I was having a girl. We had a DS and he name really suits him. Exciting times [hsmile]

eatyourveg · 14/07/2011 20:46

Silvie would work especially as you have Xavier for a boy. Silvie Madeleine Holmes

Mollydoggerson · 14/07/2011 21:19

I love Delia, it'll last a lifetime! Mwah ha ha,

Not keen on charlotte or Melody

Halogen · 14/07/2011 21:34

Sylvia is a fantastic name. Don't mind Madeleine, like Charlotte, hate Delia and Melody. Melody in particular is a bit twee.

I would go for Sylvia Charlotte, personally.

BibiBelle · 14/07/2011 21:41

Sylvia Smile

PippiLongBottom · 14/07/2011 21:45

My dd is a 9 year old Madeleine. There are a few on mn but she is the only one we know in RL. None in school.

I like Svlvie not Sylvia best.

PippiLongBottom · 14/07/2011 21:46

Sorry Sylvie. Obviously.

leakyR · 14/07/2011 21:50

I do like Sylvie, not Sylvia. Not keen on Delia or Melody.

How about Lydia or Celia?

kiteflying · 15/07/2011 07:27

Use all three of your favourite names - sod the popularity police if you like them.

I have an Isabel, so I have experience of a popular name. It stops bothering you.

RustyBear · 15/07/2011 07:38

All the Amelias I have known at the school I work at have become Millie, and most Charlottes are now becoming Lottie, so if you can't stand these shortenings you might want to take that into account.
