Elodie Ivy

I think we have decided on Elodie if yellow bump is a girl. I would like to use Ivy as a middle name (personal reasons) BUT given that most people won't know why the name Ivy has been chosen, how do you think Elodie Ivy sounds? (2 syllable surname)

It sounds very much like the phrase/song "Ebony and Ivory" tbh.

I think having two names ending in y makes it quite a mouthful to say.

scurryfunge · 27/06/2011 21:40

Too many eeeee sounds but I like both names, especially Elodie.

icefly · 27/06/2011 21:43

Surname has no eee sounds (I may be grasping at straws!!)

It's lovely.

5inthebed · 27/06/2011 21:45

Was just going to say what Hula said, sorry.

Pretty names by themselves though.

Rosemallow · 27/06/2011 21:45

Like elodie a lot but the name is too 'eeeee'-ey IMO

icefly · 27/06/2011 21:49

Hadn't thought Ebony/Ivory!! Puts me off a bit more, but, given that middle names are so rarely used after the name announcement, does it matter too much how it sounds?

Or,maybe use another name in between Elodie and Ivy to break up the eee's a bit?

SloganLogan · 27/06/2011 22:02

Very pretty, I like it.

thursday · 27/06/2011 22:06

i thought Ebony and Ivory too. i love both names, but i dont think they go together, sorry.

icefly · 27/06/2011 22:12

I'm hearing what I already knew really!!! But given how little middle names are used, can I get away with it?!

threefeethighandrising · 27/06/2011 23:31

I think you can get away with it. Lovely names. I was angling for Elodie (got a DS), it's a great name. And if Ivy means something to you then you should use it

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2011 23:34

Ebony and Ivory here too.

They are very different, not sure that they "go" that well.

Scheherezadea · 28/06/2011 15:44

Another one that thought Ebony and Ivory I'm afraid!

Secondtimelucky · 28/06/2011 16:25

If you've got personal reasons for using Ivy, I'd second breaking it up with another middle name. Elodie Elizabeth Ivy doesn't do the 'Ebony and Ivory' thing, for example.

wildstrawberryplace · 28/06/2011 16:30

Yep, Ebony and Ivory, started humming it the moment I read your thread title. Sorry.

Why does it matter if it makes you think Ebony and Ivory?

The names won't be said together that often anyway (how many of your friends / colleagues middle names do you know?)
