Is 'Fanny' a suitable name for my fifth?

Hi all,

I'm 25 weeks in with my 5th at this moment in time and already starting to think of names!!! My current kids are Claire, Helen, Julie and Jago - was thinking maybe 'Fanny' if I get a girl as a name for my fifth because Fanny Craddock is an inspiration to me and I want to keep a piece of her legend in some way living on. What do you guys think? xx

Where is Sunderland?

dinkystinky · 22/06/2011 22:12

I think you and Delphiiiii are probably neighbours

DamselInDisarray · 22/06/2011 22:13

It has to be a joke.

Sunderland is near Newcastle.

With Jo as a middle name?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 22/06/2011 22:17

Ah, thanks Damsel.

SecretNutellaFix · 22/06/2011 22:17

2/10

alliwant · 22/06/2011 22:18

get real! She will be tortured at school! Call her Francis if you must and she can shorten it to Frankie.

CulturallySophisticated · 22/06/2011 22:35

Can I ask, what is so bad about it? I often see a Fanny in my village, as we bump into each other when walking the dogs, and nobody has a bad word to say about her name...xx

I do believe at my sons' school when referring to a vagina, the term "fanny" is used. I don't know where this originates from, but, alas, Fanny will always have connotations. She may incessantly be told she's moist and hairy for example.
I always believed it was an excellent name, defaced by modern day society

Valpollicella · 22/06/2011 23:05

Cuntalina sounds prettier than Fanny, tbh

stretch · 22/06/2011 23:05

snort @ "I often see a Fanny in my village" Grin

Agree with Delphiii though.

Ivortheengine8 · 22/06/2011 23:07

eeerrrrrrrrr NO!

CulturallySophisticated · 22/06/2011 23:11

OH!!!!!! Hahahahahahaahah! I'm sorry, I didn't realise it had such connotations! I've never heard that before, but alas, you don't think it'll cause playground bullying etc. do you? xx

Clitorella?

CulturallySophisticated · 22/06/2011 23:15

Love Clitorella actually, what do you lot think? x

SullyO · 22/06/2011 23:16

don't give it as a first name, if you need to have that name use it as a middle name, she will get bullied being named Fanny by the current generation.

Valpollicella · 22/06/2011 23:18

Why not Labya?

CulturallySophisticated · 22/06/2011 23:21

I don't like Labya, sounds too much like a lady's downstairs anatomy to me tbh...and thanks SullyO, I'll bear that in mind :) x

While I love the tune "The Weight" By the Band ("Take a load of Fanny")....all I can think of when I see that name is...well...one's Fanny.
