I've just remembered Mahalia (mar-harl-lee-ah), which means 'praise', I've always found this most beautiful.

Common but not everywhere:
Leah
Abigail
Rebekah
Rachel
Martha
Lydia

Less Common
Delilah
Judith
Esther
Miriam
Naomi
Ruth
Zipporah

I know a brother and sister called Zebediah and Zipporah - they go by Zeb and Zip!!

Abigail

'tis the best

MrsJamin · 23/06/2011 07:05

Mary. Love it.

spiderslegs · 23/06/2011 07:13

Even better, Abigail Mary

(not that I'm biased or anything)

Naomi is the best. :)

But I also like Ruth, Esther (but prefer Hester I must admit), Martha, Rebecca. Sarah could be due a comeback too, as could Susannah.

I love Naomi, Esther and Miriam.
Also tempted by Elizabeth and Mary but those are a bit more common.

CarnivalBizarre · 25/06/2011 23:39

Jezabel is not too popular Grin

plonker · 26/06/2011 00:02

Some of the names mentioned here are very popular where I live, particularly Hannah, Anna, Rebecca/Rebekah, Eve, Elizabeth, Martha, Abigail and Leah.

Not that there's anything wrong with that - they're all lovely lovely names - but they are popular, at least round here.

BoosMaw · 26/06/2011 00:25

Herod
Pilate

MrsKravitz · 26/06/2011 09:47

Anne

Look at it, its perfect.

Esther
Delilah
Dinah

were all on my list, despite my general 'no biblical names' rule.
