Nice or weird?

I like that they are different names and go together well.

wannabe I remember the same thing from a Sunday school musical. I was Melody

But OP - no. Just no

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 16/06/2011 22:27

Sorry I had the same thought as wannabe .... You have brought back horrific memories of me being dressed as the big red book (Melody, I think!) in the stage production at our sunday school. so its a definite NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
from me.

And I clicked the link and now I have the flippin' song in my head too!

darleneoconnor · 16/06/2011 22:27

I like the idea, I like twin names that 'go'.

Oakmaiden · 16/06/2011 22:27

Well, I like them.

BuntyPenfold · 16/06/2011 22:41

Melody and Romilly is perfect actually.

PurpleStrawberry · 16/06/2011 22:43

There are far, far, far, FAR better ways of having 'matching' twin names, without giving them such saccharine themed names. To be perfectly honest, it's the kind of twin set I can imagine a young girl might come up with, when fantasising about what she'll call her children when she's older. When I was about 8-years old, I said I'd name girl twins Star & Sky or Autumn & Winter, names I've now grown out of.

How about going for names that have the same meaning, but to the ordinary person on the street, wouldn't be so obviously linked?

These are not suggestions, rather examples of what I mean:

Seren & Tara - both mean "star", Seren in Welsh, Tara in Sanskrit.
Anwen & Belle - both mean "beautiful", Anwen in Welsh, Belle from Latin.

Are you serious? Harmony was a hairspray and Melody the title of some awful film/musical in the early 70s. What's wrong with a couple of normal names that are not matchy matchy.

BrainSurgeon · 16/06/2011 22:54

Sorry OP I have to agree with the majority, I don't think it's a good idea...
(made me smile though)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 17/06/2011 00:02

Harmony makes me think of hairspray still. 'Is she or isn't she?...' I'm showing my age.

mathanxiety · 17/06/2011 00:24

Harmony makes me think ADs. Melody -- Spice Girls (Mel this and that).

manicinsomniac · 17/06/2011 00:29

Is this a wind up?

They're ok on their own but no no no, not together. Sorry.

manicinsomniac · 17/06/2011 00:30

What if they turned out tone deaf with no sense of rhythm?!

electra · 17/06/2011 00:37

No, not together! I immidiately thought of The Queen's Nose too.

dailymail · 17/06/2011 00:40

together they make.......

squeak2392 · 17/06/2011 16:06

I like both names. I wouldn't immediately put them together, but I do like the combo.
I like Felicity and Verity for twin girls :) It was just a coincidence that the only two virtue names on my list got paired up, but I like it.

nickelbabe · 17/06/2011 16:12

i like them, but what would you do if Meldoy ended up being an alto?

that would just be wrong.
and if harmony couldn't work out how to sing harmony and always had to sing the tune?
that would be mean.

cowboylover · 17/06/2011 18:02

I really like it but I like Harmony as when I mentioned it on here everyone said no it's horrible and put me right off.

Melodymarie7 · 16/06/2016 00:24

My name is melody and I have a twin sister name harmony. I love my name but I guess it's not for everyone. Whatever floats your boat

Melodymarie7 · 25/05/2020 22:04

Haha! My names is Melody and I have an identical twin sister named Harmony. It's funny to read these comments.

Staffori · 25/05/2020 22:26

My names is Melody and I have an identical twin sister named Harmony.

How did you feel about your names as you were growing up, Melody, and what kind of reactions did you get?

I'm afraid I agree with the majority here. Melody on its own is quite nice but I don't like Harmony either solo and especially not when paired with Melody.

Staffori · 25/05/2020 22:27

Oh gosh - I've just realised this is a zombie thread. Sorry.

peperethecat · 25/05/2020 23:06

I think there was a kids' TV show in the 90s with two sisters called Melody and Harmony. The Queen's Nose?

Anyway. Don't do it. Really tacky. Use Melody if you just, but don't give them matchy matchy twin names. They'll go through life fending off the same annoying comments over and over and over again.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 26/05/2020 00:28

no, it's naff.

HoratioNightboy · 26/05/2020 00:34

Aw, I love those names, but as a very distant memory of being part of a gang of five little girls who played at being Captain Scarlet's Angels. I was always Harmony and my sister was Rhapsody. Happy, innocent days!

But sad to say, they sound kind of naff in real life and especially for twins. Much as I love them, OP, I'd think again. Flowers
