Jamie, for a girl?

I like gender neutral girl names, we've got Taylor, Bailey, Flynn, Reese on our list, all slightly unusual (at least in our circle) and all go well with our daughters name too, but DH suggested Jamie and straight away I just thought YES!

I think people are expecting us to go with one of the names I've listed, and I can imagine their reaction to Jamie would be a bit WTF but it goes perfectly with our slightly unusual surname and it just sounds like she's a person already, iykwim, instantly familiar.

What do you think oh General Public? :o

And don't spell it Jaime as that is the Spanish male version. I'd leave it as Jamie - think that is nicest personally.

I don't get how Jaime is pronounced Jamie (in English, anyway). As the poster before said, isn't it pronounced Hi-ee-may? Or, in English, I guess, Jame. Unless Same is pronounced Samie and Name Namie.

I like Jamie for a boy or girl. Jaime seems to be a very affected way of spelling it imo. It is the Spanish way of spelling it as far as I know.

Also I know a male Jaime so it doesn't always go that way!

Jamie Lee Curtis spells her name 'J-a-m-i-e' <a class="break-all" href="//(www.imdb.com/name/nm0000130/)" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">(www.imdb.com/name/nm0000130/).

Very traditional as a boys' name - it's a biblical name. Don't like it as a girls' name.

Jamie works for me and has done for 3 decades. Wink
