Alexis? Do you think boy or girl?

Just curious about first impressions.

Girl, despite never having watched Dynasty.

Instinctively I think boy but I know it's a top ranking girls' name in America

Right - I think I will have to give up on Alexis then. I just don't like it for a girl, and seems like it might cause too much confusion to name a boy Alexis...

I only know male Alexis'. But lots of names are unisex these days

I know a boy called Alexis, but I suppose it could be a girls name too. Personally I prefer more feminine ending names for girls, so I'd prefer it for a boy.

My DH is called Alexis. He hates the Dynasty connection as that happened jus as he started school. He is known as Lex now, better being associated with the superman baddie apparently!

I automatically thought boy too - and Russian.
I'm obviously wrong judging by how many people said 'girl', but I would have thought that just Alex was a more unisex version

Definitely boy! I used to go out with a Greek Alexis. It sounds as wrong for a girl as calling her Dave, to me.
