I find it very hard / harsh.

Prefer Ingrid.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 12/06/2011 03:39

Oh, I hate Ingrid, Don't know why.

Astrid has always been a favourite (also love A names, so that helps)
I used to be called Star... maybe that's part of it?

I like it - it's quite Swedish though so might be odd if you have no connection

EldonAve · 12/06/2011 07:37

I love it

DialMforMummy · 12/06/2011 07:43

Love it. Classy name.

mumzy · 12/06/2011 10:17

I've only known one Astrid and she was Chinese/White British heritage and it suits her well so not being Scandinavian wouldn't be a problem. Go for it it's a lovely name

iskra · 12/06/2011 10:23

I love it too. My best friend at primary school, who was British-German, was called Astrid - she used to get called Asterix of course...

manicinsomniac · 12/06/2011 11:49

I think that's really cute.

MelinaM · 12/06/2011 11:57

No, it is very harsh sounding ...and reminds me of Vauxhall AstraGrin

darleneoconnor · 12/06/2011 12:03

I love it.

SloganLogan · 12/06/2011 15:07

I think names ending in "rid" sound harsh. Ingrid, Astrid etc. They sound softer when spoken by a Scandinavian, but don't go well into English.

MsTeak · 12/06/2011 15:41

Love it, makes me think of Fringe!

rachel1970 · 12/06/2011 15:42

I find it very harsh and very un-feminine. Yes, it seems to be the 'rid' ending.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/06/2011 15:44

I like it and for some reason much prefer it to Ingrid. If you love it then use it, don't worry about what anybody else thinks.
