Don't want DD to be spelling it all the time so what would you class as the 'default' spelling?

Darcy.

itsohsoquiet · 03/06/2011 19:56

I would say Darcy

WhereIsTheFire · 03/06/2011 23:46

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I thought Darcy was the male/surname version and Darcey was the more usual girls version. No idea if that is right or not though, so not much help really! Lovely name though.

GetOrf · 03/06/2011 23:47

d'Arcy Wink

randomimposter · 04/06/2011 09:45

I prefer the look of Darcy, though the little girl I know is Darcey, as is of course Ms Bussell.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2011 09:46

Darcy - I like it but lots of people on here don't. My mythical dd3 is called Marianne Darcy!

LeonardNimoy · 04/06/2011 09:52

I toothink Darcy is the surname - the girls name is Darcey

runnermum2 · 04/06/2011 14:40

:o at d'Arcy

DD2 due in 3 weeks and we are going for Darcey :)

seeksnewnamewithgsoh · 04/06/2011 21:01

DD is Darcey. It looks right, and Darcy looks like a surname. And the most famous Darcey spells it that way.

But we get Darcy, Darcie, Darcee and one D'Arcy. Even after a birth announcement card which noone reads anyway and a Christening invitation.

I don't think this name is 'conventional' enough to have a standard spelling. Not enough people have heard of enough Darceys for there to be a right way.

SoupDragon · 04/06/2011 21:03

Darsey

BatFlattery · 04/06/2011 21:13

Grin at Darsey...

Darcy, to me Darcey looks like an unnecessary 'e'.

catwhiskers10 · 04/06/2011 21:13

I'd say Darcy is the 'default' spelling but I've also seen it spelled Darcie.

LemoryMane · 04/06/2011 21:15

Darcy looks classier to me. Don't ask me why.

grubbalo · 05/06/2011 10:14

I know you were joking GetOrf, but we definitely have a bona fide D'Arcy round here...

Personally, I'd go for Darcy.

manicinsomniac · 05/06/2011 11:25

My friend called her daughter Darcy and, a week later, was told Darcy was a boy and Darcey a girl so she changed the spelling.

I don't know if her source was correct though.

Mumcah · 05/06/2011 14:33

I think Darcy is a boys Christian name in the US.
I have a Darcey,I suppose we just coppied Miss Bussell.

devonsmummy · 05/06/2011 16:07

I have a Darcy
we were originally going with Darcie but every new baby card we received had 'Darcy' so we went with that to save having to spell it everytime.

Funnily enough since then we have cards with Darcy, Darcie and Darcey!
but the majority still spell it Darcy

deste · 05/06/2011 19:42

My DM had a Darcy but it was a cat. He was a he mind you.

Jonnyfan · 05/06/2011 23:34

It's getting quite common round here! D'Arcy usually.

proudfoot · 06/06/2011 23:07
