Elsa Niamh or Henry Andrew

Hi,
I'm new to Mumsnet and expecting my first baby in October. I know I can rely on you for honest, frank opinions on names. Hubby and I have decided on:

Elsa Niamh (pn Neeve)
or
Henry Andrew

Probably will be known as either Elsie or Harry. What do you think? Acceptable for child and adult?

I think they're both great names, go for it.

Very nice. Wondering why not Harry known as Harry though - I think it's totally acceptable as a name in its own right these days? My brother is called Harry Andrew.

I have an Elsa and I LOVE it. Doesn't get shortened to 'Elsie' but to 'Else'
Her brother is Daniel.

Yes nice names, particularly like Henry.

I would keep the Henry and not have nn Harry.

To me they are separate names.

Elsa Niamh is lovely but Henry is a bit yah yah and Harry is very popular.

I did think Elsa will end up being Els or Elle! But both if them sound lovely to my ears anyhow.

Henry/Harry it's a tough one. I love both so might let hubby have the deciding vote on that one if bump turns out to be blue!

I have two DDs... Elsa and Niamh - so I think your girl names are perfect!

We NEVER shorten to Elsie (don't know why) but call her Els, Ellie, Ella or Belly as the mood takes us!

Henry is great too. Wouldve been one of my boy names (if we'd had one!)

I don't personally see the point in putting Henry on the birth certificate if you are always going to use Harry.

Like both names though, but prefer Henry as it is less popular.
