Should I call my little boy J-den?

What do you think?

I'm expecting my first little boy in July and have been trying to come up with a name. J-den (or is it supposed to be J-Den with a capital D?) is my favourite by far.

My boyfriend doesn't like it though, he says it's 'common' :( he quite likes K-den instead. I'm not sure though.

Also does anyone have any middle names to go with these? We can't think of any! Been looking all over the net but can't find any we really like.

Thank you :)

A good first try :). How about Jawdn? I have met one...

seriously? Shock

I wouldn't actually be surprised to meet a J-den one day. K-den though, reminds me of K9.

I teach a lovely girl who has a nephew called JD. Not short for anything (made the mistake of asking her Blush) Her sister likes Jack Daniels.

Ha. I like JD in Scrubs, but not the drink.

Right, back to real MN name life I go...

There's an ST in our school, not short for anything.

Although I always like to think its short for Sanitary Towel....

Nobody who can spell "Favourite" will call their child "letter-hyphen-anything"

Please don't - not J-den, K-den, or J-Den! By all means use J-den as a nickname, but not on his birth certificate or school register. Suggest Jayden or Jaden, the more commonly accepted spellings (although there were enough raised eyebrows when Will Smith and Andre Agassi first used those names) - for greater credibility, Jadon, the rare but original spelling, comes from the Old Testament and means "thankful". Can't find any decent versions of "K-den" - go with your first aural instincts (but a different spelling!)

I long middle name with no "n" at the end would go nicely with it - eg Edward, Samuel, Thomas, etc etc the possibilities are endless.

Stick to Jayden. If you call him J-Den you'll forever be correcting people calling him "J-dash-den."

I was going to suggest you looked at netmums for help.

You nearly got us going. TBH J-den isn't much worse than Junior Andre, is it? Bless little Katie and Peter not comprehending that "Junior" is actually a nickname.

SpringDaffodils · 29/05/2011 19:24

I think it is quite nice but the spelling Jayden would be a bit easier on people
