The people who I meet who insist on being called Deborah are always a tad uptight I think

One of the ones I know is 85 and not a bit uptight :)

And I don't think it has dated, in fact, despite its popularity throughout the 60s and 70s, simply because so few people use the name in its full form.

That's my theory, you hear very few Deborah's that aren't Debbies, so if I could push for a Deborah...but then how do you stop people using a nn you don't want, hell, even I'd probably say Debbie!

I was at school with three Deborahs who were all great,nice girls.not quite as many as the 15 Sharrons and 15 traceys.but not too bad a name ,all are known as Deb .

It's pronounced Deb -uh- ra. Or, if said quickly, Debra - but that spelling is very naff.
