Give me a three letter middle name that goes with Iris

DD has a lovely name (if I say so myself- 4letters then three and it kinda makes a double name if we are so inclined)

Pregnant again and though its too early to start thinking of such we both like Iris but want a 3 letter middle name that could possibly be used as a double name (as will match really well with DD's name).

So far I kinda like
Iris Mae
Iris Ava

but they aren't "it" so I need more suggestions please!

Completely stumped for boys names but will worry about that after 20week scan if they say its a boy!

Iris Lyn
Iris Bel[le]
Iris Jane

I do love the Iris Joy suggestion though

excellentadventure · 25/05/2011 19:46

Yes - normally Joy wouldn't be on my list of favourite names, but Iris Joy is lovely.

Personally I think you need to have a longer middle name to go with Iris.

Iris Madeline
Iris Constance
Iris Catherine
Iris Louisa

Iris is very nice BTW.

Una
Luz
Sky
Kim
Amy

Think three letters too short with Iris? The scansion isn't right - you need three syllables plus
eg
Amelia
Aurora
etc

TruthSweet · 25/05/2011 20:29

Iris Ivy
Iris Ada
Iris Lux

excellentadventure · 25/05/2011 20:29

It doesn't end there, though - don't forget there is a surname to follow. Without knowing what it sounds like, we can't really judge, can we?

UrsulaBuffay · 25/05/2011 20:31

Agree that a longer name scans much better.

Domesticbodess · 25/05/2011 20:37

Belle is pretty
Jane

onebatmother · 25/05/2011 20:41

That's true excellentadventure. Though I think I still prefer more syllables unless the surname has, say, ten.

EmLH · 25/05/2011 20:47

I like Iris Mae, poss because we liked Isla Mae as one of our choices! Also not as out there as some of the other combos!

I agree. Or a two syllable name with the stress on the second syllable, like Marie or Suzanne perhaps.

Iris Ann-my fave
Iris Fay

Going for longer names -
Iris Ellie
Iris Kate
Iris Eleanor

olddeuteronomy · 25/05/2011 22:00

Iris Niamh (not sure if anyone suggested, just scanned through previous posts) - I think this is beautiful.

olddeuteronomy · 25/05/2011 22:02

oops, sorry misread - thought you were wanting one syllable not 3 letters (still think Iris Niamh lovely though, otherwise Iris Fay is good suggestion)

ginmakesitallok · 25/05/2011 22:09

Immediately thought "Fay"

tiptoptally · 26/05/2011 01:37

Ooh I like Iris Niamh, but also like Iris Evelyn.

Iris Ann or Iris Faye still my faves tho :-)

thumbwitch · 26/05/2011 01:41

I like Iris Fay(e)
But I quite like Iris Claire and that's not what you were after.

mamma2boyz · 26/05/2011 13:17

Iris Maud
Iris Ann
Iris Bay
Iris Maeve
Iris Jean
Iris Bo
Iris Belle
Iris Elle

3 letters is trickier than 1 syllable....so many possible combinations but I do know an Iris May and she is lovely x

OsbegaEthelwulf · 26/05/2011 13:20

either Fay or Ann

Sylvaniasandwich · 26/05/2011 19:22

Iris Fay is lovely.
