..... Greta with a surname beginning with a G? Too like Greta Garbo? I have a Matilda already (apparently not as unusual as we thought according to MN, but don't know any in RL....) and a recent pregnancy "scare" (actually, would have been delighted of course!) has got me thinking about dc2!!

DH and I love it, but we caould be mad (DH likes Tancredi for a boy after the book "The Leopard", our favourite book (we both speak Italian!) - I have vetoed!)

Too similar IMO, sorry!

I love the name Greta as I think it is really pretty and unusual (without causing confusion over pronunciation/spelling), and have always loved names that are alliterations (although they do seem to come in for some stick on here!).

I love the name Greta, and I loved il Gattopardo too! I always liked the names Carlotta and Concetta after reading this book. Unfortunately, my dh doesn't speak Italian and has vetoed any Italian names!

Oh, and I had an alliterative name before I married, and my dd1 has an alliterative name too. I think they are fab. Smile

Greta is a lovely nameSmile

Greta's a lovely name. I personally think alliteration is only bad when it sounds silly. Eg. Harry Hill's fine, but John Johnson is a bit silly (and they exist O_o).
