I'm desperate to have my Mum's name and my MIL's name for middle names (Elizabeth and Christina) but the first name I've fallen in love with is Eliza...

Is it too wierd to have Eliza Christina Elizabeth [surname]?

I don't know what I'd think so really want to hear opinions... (I think it sounds better than it looks...)

I guess one option is to ditch the family names altogether but what middle names go with Eliza?

Eliza is just a short form of Elizabeth. Christen her Elizabeth Christina ad call her Eliza.

mrsdaz · 18/05/2011 08:53

Eliza is close enough to Elizabeth to not have to use it again as a middle name, unless you have Elizabeth as a full name and nn Eliza.

Another option would be to have Eliza Beth Christina Surname???

UrsulaBuffay · 18/05/2011 08:54

Eliza is enough of a 'use' of Elizabeth surely? Or name her Elizabeth & call her Eliza. I find it odd- have known recently of a Ellie...Elizabeth & a Caitlin Kathleen which are essentially the same name to me & have been baffled.

WowOoo · 18/05/2011 08:54

I think it odd, yes.

Imagine Dom Mike Dominic or Julie Sarah Juliette or Mick Finn Micheal (actually quite like that one!!)

But you can do it if you really want to.

How about Eliza Tina? - So that it's a truncated version of both grandma's names?

PuppyMonkey · 18/05/2011 08:56

Nobody will ever use her middle names anyway, so I say do what you like. Grin

Can i just say - i didn't mean Elizatina....that would be too weird! Grin

I wouldn't use Eliza and Elizabeth in the same name. I would do what another poster suggested and put Elizabeth on the birth certificate and call her Eliza.

Hedwig3 · 18/05/2011 10:11

Eliza Christina is perfect

or something like Eliza Christy/Christabel

Eliza Christina would be lovely.

Eliza is a short form of Elizabeth and I think of them as the same name.

Elizabeth Christina and use Eliza as a nnSmile

SilkStalkings · 18/05/2011 22:18

Yes it is silly but well done for checking!

By calling her Eliza you are already paying tribute (or whatever) to your mum because it is the same name, no need to duplicate. Or just call her Elizabeth Christina and call her Eliza for short. I'm sure your mum wouldn't want you to make such a cockup on her behalf.

Emelene · 18/05/2011 23:24

I think using the name Eliza is a great tribute to your mum, as it is a reference to her, but not identical to the name. I personally wouldn't do Elizabeth nn Eliza as I think she will get lots of other nns to which you might not like or have intended e.g Liz, Lizzy, Beth. Just something to think about.

I do think Eliza Christina Elizabeth is a bit silly tbh.

Eliza Christina is nice, or you could do two name similar to Elizabeth and Christina like Eliza Kristen.

Good Luck deciding!
