firstly, how would you pronounce? And secondly do you like it?

I actually have a cousin who spells her name like this but pronounces it differently than I want to.... Are there different pronunciations according to different languages?

Sha-day. But I'm Scottish, so don't add extraneous "r"s.

(And it's how the singer pronounced it)

Thought so, that's how i like it.

My cousin pronounces her name shade... Has anyone heard of this version? Her father is Irish?

It's slightly irrelevant now as dp has just announced we can't have two in the family with different pronunciations....

Sade is Nigerian name.

diddl · 16/05/2011 11:45

I would say Sharday.

Don´t like it though.

Prefer Sadie.

wineandcheese · 16/05/2011 16:28

It's a Nigerian name - can be short for Folusade or Folasade. Pronounced shar-day.

ClipArt · 16/05/2011 17:18

I don't really like it, too similar to Chardonnay.

I do like Sadie though.

NestaVipers · 16/05/2011 17:23

Makes me think of the Marquis de Sade, and all the connotations that that conjures up, I'm afraid.

WiiUnfit · 16/05/2011 17:36

I think I'm lacking in culture - I read this and thought "that reminds me of sage" Confused
