Welsh/Celtic/Irish/Scottish names for kids

I've noticed there is a serious lack of any proper Celtic or very Welsh/Irish names about - all the babies at the moment seem to be Jayden, Cayden, Bayden, Hayden... YUCK! - so if you know one that you think is perfect then put it in here!

I'm currently pregnant with Carwyn-James Evans, and as a contingency name (in case he "doesn't look like a Carwyn" - other half) we have Osian (pronounced OSH-an).

For the future we have two girls names in mind which I love - Anwen and Enfys.

Got it all sorted! But if you know any that are more off the beaten track, then please say them!

Hi BibiThree Smile Whereabouts are you from then?

And big thanks to Elah11 for putting the pronunciation of those names. Never managed to wrap my tongue around Irish names, they are so complicated haha! Silent letters and all that...

I'm Scottish and DH is welsh. His name is Owain and he loves it. Our DD is Isobel Seren. If she had been a boy, she'd have prob either been Huw Douglas or Gethin

Im Scottish and 2 of my boys are called Connor and Finlay, just loved the names, didnt pick them because they were Scottish or anything like that. Not many around, certainly not 18 year old Connors.

If we have a DS3, and DH doesn't veto Diggory again, I'm going to call him Idris.

Think Delyth is a lovely welsh girls name. I had a welsh relative called Pendry (male). I love Dewi for a boy.

I live in Wales and have friends with the names Carys, Rhiannon, Enfys and Manon.
My middle name is Caryl. Friends of mine have names their children Seren and Haf.
I'm not keen on the name Buddug (Bith-ig) I have to say.

My favourite Welsh girl's name is Mali. I haven't been allowed any Welsh names though (I have Welsh parents, hubby's mum is Scottish, but we've both always lived in England). Our only nod is spelling Isobel the Scottish way!

Buddug is Bee-theeg ('th' soft as in mother or either). I know one - Bee for short!

Perhaps pronounced differently in some places but have always heard the 'u' in this name pronounced 'ee' - as in the Welsh words un (one) ugain (twenty).

I am not Welsh, nor is DH, and we don't live in Wales, but have named DD Eirlys. It's pronounced like air-liss and is Welsh for snowdrop. We think it is beautiful but have had some confused reactions when telling people her name.
