Loving this name atm. Was thinking Dorothea Violet, Dorothea Daisy or Dorothea Hazel.

NN will probably be Dolly (when she is little anyway) or Thea.

Feedback would be appreciated. Oh, and we already have a dd Clementine.

Thanks

I love it, and I like the pet names too.

MollyMurphy · 12/05/2011 17:23

Variations on Dorthey are not my cup of tea. Sorry - you asked. I do think Thea is nice though.

oohlaalaa · 12/05/2011 17:27

Sorry, dont like it at all. Same reason as MollyMurphy.

I liked Isadora which was suggested on another thread.

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 12/05/2011 17:31

I know a very cool little girl called Dot. Suits her. What do you call Clementine? Clem or Clemmie?

largeginandtonic · 12/05/2011 17:34

I love it and is top of my list for next baby.

I like the nn Dolly.

Dorothea Daisy is very sweet, maybe a bit too sweet. Although dd2 is called Bluebell so what do i know Grin

MelinaM · 12/05/2011 17:37

I'm rather liking DorotheaSmile I'd go with Violet as a mn, Daisy it too southern trailer park and Hazel doesn't flow as well as Violet.

Valinor · 12/05/2011 17:43

we call Clementine Clemmie or Emmie atm LuckyWeKeptTheCot. Quite like Cleo for when shes older too (but that depends on her I suppose).

Tommy · 12/05/2011 17:45

I like it Smile
although I don't think any of the second names go with it

Mousesmummy · 12/05/2011 17:56

Love it!! The FAB lead character in Middlemarch - THE best book ever written IMO! And it sounds lovely with Clementine Smile
I don't like it with Daisy at all - far too sickly sweet - of your suggestions I prefer Violet. Very good names.

Valinor · 12/05/2011 17:58

So what mn's would you suggest Tommy?

I don't want any filler names....Rose, Grace, May etc.

Jane and Anne names are out also.

I really like it x

missmiss · 12/05/2011 18:01

I love it. What about Dorothea Helen?

DesertOrchid · 12/05/2011 18:22

Dorothea Claire sounds good.

Valinor · 12/05/2011 18:42

Quite like Helen or Ellen.

Prefer Clara to Claire but ideally don't want a mn ending in 'a'.

Dorothea Violet - very nice, like this :)
Dorothea Daisy - I like Daisy but don't think it goes well with Dorothea
Dorothea Hazel - not keen on Hazel

Or how about

Dorothea Sophie
Dorothea Lucy
Dorothea Lily
Dorothea Frances
Dorothea Juliet
Dorothea Joy
Dorothea Chloe
Dorothea Josephine
Dorothea Naomi
Dorothea Holly

ManicAnnie · 12/05/2011 21:08

A lovely name, and the nicknames are all very sweet, too.

Valinor · 13/05/2011 18:19

I chose Daisy as a mn for my GM Margaret who died a couple of years ago. So, instead of Dorothea Daisy how about Dorothea Margot?

ramblingrosie · 13/05/2011 18:36

Clementine and Dorothea would make nice sisters names. Hard act to follow for future siblings names tho!

Valinor · 13/05/2011 18:59

Nice to see someone likes Clementine and Dorothea as sibs. ramblingrosie I'm sure we will find something that will 'go' if we have any more. Sebastian is a favourite for blue.

Very sweet. I'd avoid Violet as nickname, as the initials DV make me think of diarrhoea and vomiting Blush but that could just be me ...

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 14/05/2011 22:34

Violet is only a letter away from Violent. Can't understand its popularity.

typsical · 15/05/2011 22:20

Love Dorothea Violet :)

What is Clementine's MN? [nosy] and do you pronounce in 'tyne' or 'teen'?

emmanumber3 · 15/05/2011 22:52

I know a little Dorothy who is always called Dot or Dottie - sounds so cute!! I've never met a Dorothea but it sounds good to me & I think it goes really well with Clementine.

I would second the comment that the initials DV remind me of diarrhoea & vomiting. Not a combination I'd choose personally. I'd vote for Dorothea Daisy - nothing wrong with sweet & girly IMO Grin.

ginghamspider · 17/05/2011 17:01

Met a lovely old lady in her 80s at FIL's nursing home. She was called Edna but said all her life she has dreamed of being called Daisy and wished her mother had called her that instead. My mum had a very cool friend - 60s groovy chick - called Dorothy and have always like it because of her. In the end names mean something to you that they won't to other people and that's what matters most.

JanMorrow · 17/05/2011 17:15

I like it, although I prefer Viola to Violet as a mn
