Middle name will probably be Alice or Elizabeth.

What do you think?

I really dislike Heidi. In German yes (pronounced High-dee), but in English I'm not keen.

Kirsty is cute and Kirsten works well in most languages.

mathanxiety · 12/05/2011 18:50

Kirsty. Heidi sounds dumpy and plain to me. Kirsty has a nice Scottish or Scandinavian ring to it.

pickyourbrain · 12/05/2011 18:57

I don't particularly like Heidi (looks a bit masculine..) but I dislike all names ending in Y. It is my belief that no woman with a Y as the last letter of their name can be taken seriously...

Joggingqueen · 12/05/2011 19:19

I like both but would go with Kirstie as i am one, I really love the spelling too, im all but 28 and have only met or known of about 3/4 others with the same spelling.

Let us know!

minipie · 12/05/2011 19:21

Kirsty absolutely. Heidi just makes me think dirndls and plaits.

Popbiscuit · 12/05/2011 19:23

I love Kirsty.

Jojay · 12/05/2011 21:01

Ooooh, PrincessScrumpy, I'm having twins too! But they're boy/girl, so we're only after one girls name. Boys names are another thread altogether! When are you due? I'm 27+6.

Anyway, I digress.....

I'm not keen on Kirsten, so it would be Kirsty, or Kirstie - can't decide on the spelling Grin

But I still like Heidi, and it's DH's preferred option. Ho hum.......

Definitely Kirsty!!

I don't get called Kirst very often; few people abbreviate it. I am also one of the few people I know who actually likes their own name.

Although I do like Heidi too Smile.

gemitygem · 12/05/2011 21:11

I have a Heidi and she is lovey, I love the name!!!

Maternelle · 12/05/2011 21:22

I love Heidi.

BatFlattery · 12/05/2011 22:31

I love the name Heidi, not keen on Kirsty/Kirsten.

PrincessScrumpy · 13/05/2011 12:19

I'm 21w pg - should be born by cs 1st week of Sept (If they stay put that long). Where are you? I'm in Somerset.

Jojay · 13/05/2011 13:01

I'm in Warwickshire, so nowhere near sadly. Best of luck with it all!

Neither. Remeber you're naming an adult woman, not a baby.

sonniebonnie · 13/05/2011 14:11

Neither, but I do like Kirsten/Kristen/Kristina. Really dislike Heidi - it has very old fashioned, almost comical associations in Germany.

pickyourbrain · 13/05/2011 15:22

Seems Heidi is like Marmite then! Maybe Kirtsi without the 'y' ?

GwendolineMaryLacey · 13/05/2011 15:31

How else would you pronounce Heidi except the German way? Confused

saffy85 · 14/05/2011 07:50

I love Kirsty. Heidi is ok too. Don't know any Heidis but only ever met nice Kirstys. Smile Kirsty Elizabeth sounds slightly better than Kirsty Alice but sound good. Heidi Elizabeth works better than Heidi Alice imo.

FanjoForTheMusic · 14/05/2011 19:39

Another vote for Heidi!

Takver · 14/05/2011 19:58

Kirsty

GoodDaysBadDays · 14/05/2011 20:04

Alice and Elizabeth are beautiful.

I'm afraid I dislike both heidi and kirsty. But at a push I would prefer heidi.

Out of interest what boys names do you like? Might help as to which would go with the boys name!

Jojay · 14/05/2011 20:43

I have a Jasper and an Ed(ward) already.

Trying to talk DH into Dominic for DS3 Grin

GoodDaysBadDays · 15/05/2011 08:01

With those names I still go with the two you have for middle names Grin

But definitely heidi rather than kirsty.

HeidiKat · 15/05/2011 17:41

I might have a bias towards one of these names Grin.

(Not my name in real life BTW).

midori1999 · 15/05/2011 18:28

I am a Kirstie (was Kirsty but changed the spelling as a teen). I don't really like it and think it sounds harsh, so am suprised so many view it as a 'pretty' name.

I prefer Heidi by far.
