I quite like the way it sounds, but I'm not sure....

Is it pronounced "yago"? If it isn't phonetic then you might get quite fed up with people getting it wrong, not to mention little Jago himself.

There is also a Spanish version with a different pronunciation, but as long as you are going for the Cornish one, the I really like it!

RitaMorgan · 07/05/2011 11:00

I think it's Cornish isn't it? I love it, it was on my list for ds.

mypersonalfavourite · 07/05/2011 11:31

Love it. DH wouldn't let me have it. TBF we did have girls anyway.

MercurySoccer · 07/05/2011 12:28

It's OK, although it's a sort of cross between James and Hugo.

Yes ,we'd pronounce it Jay-go, so nothing complicated there.

Lockets - what did you go for, out of interest?

sorry but sounds like a good name for a dog to me:

"heel, jago, heel"

yep def a dog name!

UrsulaBuffay · 07/05/2011 15:08

Love it.

RileyBigBro · 07/05/2011 15:45

My nephew is called Jago and it's a lovely name - it is Cornish for James! We're Cornish and the name is growing in popularity here.

mamma2boyz · 07/05/2011 16:24

I love it, but dh wont use it as says it sounds pretentious?!!!

I have 3 sisters and all 4 of us would have been called James had we been boys, so I thought it would be nice to use it, but no been vetoed just like hundreds of others!!!

Hope you get to use it xx

gallicgirl · 07/05/2011 16:26

A school friend was named Jago and I'd never heard it before - bit of a hippy family and not at all pretentious.

I like traditional English names that perhaps have more well-known/popular versions.

Tamdin · 07/05/2011 17:13

Friends ds is called Jago and he's the nicest child so I'm biased :)

Lauralastic · 07/05/2011 21:08

Love it! I'm biased as my 2.5yr ds is Jago. Definitely not a dog name! Just hard to find a name that goes with it for ds2 due in 6wks.

squeak2392 · 08/05/2011 12:28

I like Jay-go, but Jago looks too much like it should be pn like Iago to me (but that might just be me).
That wouldn't annoy me though, especially if it's Cornish. Go ahead.

MelinaM · 08/05/2011 12:32

Love itSmile

GollyHolightly · 08/05/2011 12:35

I like it, it was our chosen name if our second was a boy. She wasn't a boy, but our dog was Grin

FriggFRIGG · 08/05/2011 12:51

love it! it was high up our list!
beaten by 'Arlo' for us Grin
...id love to use it 'next' time, but i fear Arlo and Jago sound to similar Sad

MamaLazarou · 09/05/2011 11:52

it's very Mumsnet.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 09/05/2011 12:07

Although it is Cornish (?Kern) it sounds very Islington to me.

grubbalo · 09/05/2011 12:42

Oooh I love Jago... I am really stuck on boys names for DC3 (I already have 2 boys and it is getting hard now!) - might just have to run that idea past DH (although he doesn't seem to like anything I suggest now!!)
